When I opened the door, he was standing there with a rose in his hand.

"Miss Beckett, you look lovely."

"Please don't call me that. Megan is fine." Easton offered me the rose. I took it and handed it to Amy, who put it in a vase. Easton offered his arm and we left my room. We walked slowly, heading downstairs and towards the gardens.

"so, Megan." He emphasized saying my name.

"What is your life like?" I told him about my mother, sister, and brother. I explained how my Aaron had come home injured the other day. Hoping that maybe, he would think to do something about it. I told him about my sister and how close she looked up to me.

"What about you?" I asked. He looked at me.

"You know my parents."

"I know them as King and Queen. What about your parents?" I asked again.

"My mother is kind, she tells me how proud she is. And my father is stricter, he wants to make sure I am ready to be King someday."

We reached a door that leads to the gardens and went outside. The garden was exploding with color. There were so many different flowers, and I could smell each one.

"It's beautiful isn't it?" Easton asked. I nodded my head.

"I've never seen so many flowers in one place." At home, we had small flower patches, but they were nothing like this. Easton continued to ask me what I liked to do in my free time. I told him how I mostly read whenever I was bored. I was usually doing something to keep me busy.

After a while, Easton stopped in the middle of the path. The sun almost looked like it was reflecting off of his dirty blonde hair, and his blue eyes glistened in the sun. For a second, I forgot how uncomfortable the palace made me feel.

"You look beautiful today." He said, looking into my eyes. Easton put his hand by my face and brushed a strand of my hair behind my ear. He started to lean in towards me. I pulled away from his face quickly.

"Is everything alright?"

"I've never kissed anyone before, I have never even been on a date before today," I informed him. I started to fidget with my dress. I knew I had just ruined a moment.

"I'm sorry if I pushed you. If it makes you feel any better, this is my first date as well."

"You mean I am the first of the chosen to go out with you?" I asked. Easton nodded.

"What made you choose me first?" I wasn't that special. I was a seven, I had nothing he was going to want.

"You seem strong. You have opinions, and I like that." I may not have wanted to admit it, but he was right. I was good at saying my opinion during some conversations, even if it has gotten me into trouble.

We stood there, gazing into each other's eyes for a while longer before we started to walk again. The path weaved through the garden and eventually lead back to the doors we came from. We walked back up towards my room, but we went past my room.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Just trust me." He took me to the fourth floor and stopped at a door.

"Close your eyes." I glanced at Easton, hesitating before closing my eyes.

I heard Easton open a door, and he guided me inside. He did not take me very far before he stopped.

"open." I opened my eyes and saw that I was standing in a huge library. Most of the bookshelves went around every wall and up to the ceiling.

"You said you liked reading." I faced Easton.

"This is amazing."

"There are books from when my grandfather was king in here somewhere." He started trying to find a few books for me. I was able to take a few to my room, as long as no one found out I was in here. He found one book and offered it to me. It was an old book, The Diary of Christopher Montgomery. I flipped through the book and saw many old diary entries written in fancy cursive.

"I'll take this one if I can."

"Of course," Easton said. He took me back to my room and we stopped right outside my door. He turned to face me, and took my free hand.

"Thank you for doing this with me." He said.

"Thanks for the book." He kissed my forehead before opening my door and letting me in.

I closed my door and collapsed down on my bed.

"How was it," Justine asked. All three of them were looking at me, waiting for an answer.

"It was much better than I thought it would." I looked over at the rose Easton had given me. He was so much different than I thought he was going to be.

"Did he give you that book?" Tracy asked. I didn't know whether to tell them where I got it or not, so I just said yes and went to put it in a drawer to read later.

"I think I am going to go down to the lounge for a bit." I went outside of my room and asked the officer standing outside my door to bring me down.

"Did you have a nice date?" He asked. I was a little surprised that he was talking to me. Usually we walked in silence.

"I guess."

"So that's a yes." He had a small grin on his face.

"It wasn't bad"

We reached the doors to the lounge and the officer opened the doors.

"Thank you officer."

"Officer Wood." I did not know how I felt when he told me to call him by his last name. I was sure most of the other girls have not even spoken with their officers. I smiled and went into the lounge.

There were a lot of girls in the lounge. Most of them were reading in the corner. I saw Farley reading and went over to her. When she saw me coming she put her book down and got all excited.

"Why didn't you let him kiss you?"

"What."

"Don't do that to me, I saw you with Prince Easton after lunch in the gardens."

"you saw?" I felt my face get red. I didn't want everyone to know about my date.

"Not just me, a few other girls saw you two and when they said your name, I had to see for myself." I looked around and noticed a few girls were looking at me.

"Look. It was my first date ever, I didn't need everyone watching."

"I'm sorry, I just can't believe you didn't kiss him."

"I just wasn't ready." I tried to stay calm. Farley was one of my only friends and I wanted to keep it that way.  Farley rolled her eyes, she was having fun teasing me.

"Whatever. You are the first girl he has asked out so I guess I might be a little jealous."

"You don't need to be. It's too early in the competition to get jealous." I did not want her to be jealous of me.

Katrina came to the lounge for a bit to hang out. Farley mentioned my date with Easton, and Katrina got as excited as Farley did.

After I got bored of being asked questions about my date, I decided to go back to my room. Officer Wood walked me back to my room. We talked most of the way back to my room. Officer Wood paused before opening my door.

"You look beautiful in that dress." Officer Wood said.

"Oh my god," I said quietly. He suddenly became concerned.

"What."

"Get in here," I said as I brought him into my room.
