It was pretty normal day for Namjoon. Just ordinary Friday. He got up, got dressed and walked to school as usual. He got 15 minutes earlier as always and went to the library to get some books to read over the weekend. As the day passed nothing really caught his attention, it was just plain boring. Couple of classes went by, no one really talked to him, as no one like the nerdy boy, who was doing great in every class. So, at the lunch he was sitting alone, reading one of the books that he got earlier. His brain was always hungry for new information. So he was reading book after book, gaining new knowledge or languages. He was speaking English and Spanish as for now and for no particular reason ancient Greek was very easy for him to learn, so he was fluent in three languages.
He didn't knew why he was like that, I mean 148 IQ didn't came from nowhere and yet he was the only one in his family like that. No one liked books or documentary films. No one liked learning anything. His mother was a shallow manicurist, someone who you would call a gold digger. Dating various men, when in reality she was just after their money. Namjoon didn't know his father and lets just say, that he wasn't raised in an environment that encouraged learning. Before he noticed, his last class for that day had ended and he stared walking home.
When he got to his mother's apartment that was probably paid by one of her boyfriends, he only sighed. His mother was nowhere to be seen, maybe at work, but more probably shopping with her new bae. Namjoon got himself his favourite thing to eat during the walk home: Chinese rice with chicken and veggies, so he only grabbed a bottle of coke from the fridge and went to his room to eat and learn some more Spanish vocabulary, because there was never such thing as too much practise for Kim Namjoon.
After an hour or two he felt his eyes getting tired, so he closed his textbook and headed over to the park with his headphones plugged into his phone, blasting music at nearly full volume. When he got to the park he went straight to his favourite place; the fountain (a/n: the photo from above). He sat by the side and looked into the water splashing around. After couple peaceful minutes he suddenly noticed vibrations spreading wildly across the water surface. He puled his headphones off of his ears and looked around while standing up and going to the middle of the park. Then he saw it.
Abnormally large, frightening creature with the body of a lion, wings of a bat and the scorpion spike in the place of the tail. The creature spotted the boy and roared in rage. Then that monster charged towards Namjoon. The boy shrieked, turned on his heels and started running. It was terrifying, but as he was convinced, that he was going to die right this second, he heard someone screaming "A wild lion escaped from the zoo!" and other things like that.
"Is no one seeing it the same way as me? That thing has wings for fucks sake!" These and some other thoughts were running back and forth in his mind, as the boy was running for his dear life. Other people were running too, but this creature seemed to follow its nose, because it was still following only Namjoon (a/n: demigods have specific scent, that monsters and other mythological creatures can pick up). Abruptly, Namjoon's mind cleared up. He knew, that he had to defeat this... thing. He was feverishly thinking and searching in his memory some helpful facts. He knew that creature from somewhere. As he was remembering all sorts of different monsters he run towards nearest building. He thought that the monster was too big to fit in there, but boy was he wrong. That thing just charged right through the wall. Then he remembered. It was a manticore. Ancient creature from Greek mythology, probably an offspring of a chimera. And then his plan was born.
