I don't know why I expected anything different from my mother when I asked her if I could go to Caleb's party. Like always she replied, "Honey... I don't think you're ready to go out for the night alone."
That's been her excuse for about 5 years already, I mean I'm 16 now! Yet she still acts as if I'm 10. Probably because she hasn't paid any attention to me since then.
Now that Chad and Lindsey are heading off to college everybody's attention was focused on them, the 'perfect' children. Ugh. As I'm sitting in my room staring up at the ceiling and wondering why? Just why. Why did I have to be the ninth, why don't I get any attention? The words swirl around my head until I'm interrupted by a 'ding' on my phone alerting me I got a text.
Once I roll over and pick my phone up I groan as I read who it's from. It's Caleb of course asking where I am. Even though I feel guilty about it I respond back, 'Sorry can't come... think I'm coming down with something:( '. Pathetic.
I've known Caleb since 1st grade, we became friends when he accidentally spilt a juice box all over me and so I 'accidentally' poured my milk on him... oops. Then once we both got in trouble, BAM! We were best friends.
As I start to travel back into my thoughts a very annoying 'knock'on my door sounds like she is trying to break it down interrupts me. I sit up just as my 17 year old sister walks in.
"Taylor come on, mom wants everybody downstairs so we can have cake and ice cream for Chad and Lindsey"
"I'm good Mari just leave me alone." I reply, falling back onto my bed.
"Suit yourself Ms. sulky." she says with anger in her voice before spinning on her bright pink converse sneakers heel, and storming out of my room. Of course not forgetting to slam the door. I let out a sigh before putting my hands over my eyes, hating my life..
