A/N: Hey guys.. welcome to my new Student/Teacher book. :) Hope this is okay for a first chapter. :) Let me know what you think! I haven't wrote anything new in a hot minute so I'm both nervous and excited XD
The header is a mood board for Blaire.Blaire
Please don't have a stupid sign.. Please don't. I thought as I stepped into the airport in Portland Maine after getting off the plane bringing me to a strange new place I adjusted my duffle bag on my shoulder as . I looked around the airport, and cringed as I spotted it. My name, in bright blue sparkling letters on a posterboard, held by a blonde teenager who looked just about as enthused as I was. Which was very little, in case that wasn't obvious. I sighed heavily and walked over to the girl holding the sign.
"You Blaire?" She asked.
"Yup." I mumbled.
"Sorry about the sign. My mom made it, she and Dad went to get cinnabon while we waited."
"Oh. Okay." I shrugged.
"I'm Emma by the way." The blonde said and tucked the sign under her arm to extend her hand. I hesitantly shook her hand."Oh! She's here!" I heard a bubbly voice from behind me.
"Hug incoming..." Emma mumbled a warning to me a bit too late as a woman, who I didn't know from Eve threw her arms around me pulling me close. My arms were hugged to my sides and I felt my entire being tense.
"Mom.. not everyone is a hugger." Emma sighed. "Let her go before she books a flight back to Oregon."
"Oh, I'm sorry sweetie." Emma's mother frowned and released me.
"It's fine." I mumbled. It really wasn't but that was another conversation I didn't want to have. "Well, you've met your cousin Emma, I'm Mary-Margaret, and this is your Uncle David." I looked up, and my heart jumped into my throat. The only thing I knew about my Uncle David was he was my Dad's brother. I didn't know that he was my dad's identical twin brother and this just seemed to be all the more cruel that I had to live with someone who looked exactly like my dad and not even know him.David picked up immediately that I was uncomfortable.
"I'm, sorry. James and I never spoke, it's not a shock that he probably never mentioned we were twins."
"He never mentioned you at all..actually." I said, and it sounded perhaps a lot meaner than I meant it to but it was the truth, until exactly 5 days ago I had no idea these people even existed.
"Also not shocking." David said and frowned. "Are you hungry? It's about two hours to Storybrooke from here."
"No. I'm fine." I said and quickly looked away from him. This was going to be much worse than I thought it would be.-------------------------------------------------------
Most of the drive was awkward, so I put my headphones on and turned Pandora to 80s rock radio to drown out the awkward silence while I scrolled through facebook messages, from my friends in Oregon. All those years, building friendships and finally getting comfortable in my own skin. Gone. I was starting over at literally the worst time in my life and didn't really see a point in much.
The only hope I had was in my Dad's defense team. I hoped it wouldn't be too long before he was cleared and I could leave Storybrooke before the dust had time to settle. I knew something terrible had happened to my mother, I felt that. But I refused to believe that Dad had something to do with it. I felt tears welling up in my eyes and glanced to the rearview mirror where David's eyes were watching me. I rolled my eyes and pushed my sunglasses down from the top of my head to cover my eyes.
I felt a nudge on my shoulder, unaware that I had zoned out for so long. I looked beside me at Emma and pulled my headphones off.
"We're home." She said and opened the car door. I unbuckled my seatbelt and opened the car door getting out. I looked up mentally scoffed. This house was like what you would see on TV, where the perfect little family lived. It even had the white picket fence. All it was missing was the-
I heard a dog barking from inside the house.
Dog.
