He's so cute!" Himiko leaned forward a bit and stared at Tomoru. "Hello, baby, look over here!"
The young blonde girl was sitting next to y/n. While Twice was standing behind the couch, leaning on the back and looking down at Tomoru. It was apparent by how close they were that they were the most interested in the baby.
Compress and Spinner looked at a distance. Dabi, on the other hand, was as far away from y/n and the baby as possible. The only way he could be any further was if he had followed Tomura outside.
"Where have you been hiding?" Compress asked. "We have been looking all over for you."
Y/n recounted her story. Waiting under the bridge, eventually finding her way to Giran's old office, and roaming city to city until she finally stopped at Ogura. Tomoru's birth, choosing to leave out mentioning Tomoko, and finally getting found.
Y/n let out an exasperated sigh. "It's been a long year."
"And it's been quite a year," Compress added. The masked villain hummed and titled his head. "You seem different."
"I do?" Y/n could only guess what Compress meant by that—stressed, tired, overworked, any one of those words could probably describe y/n.
"You do. Not sure what it is, but you seem very different from the y/n we went to Tartarus with. Whatever it is, it's a good change." Y/n bowed her head a bit and thanked Compress for the compliment.
"Gross." Y/n didn't expect Dabi to say anything. Everyone turned to look at their patchworked comrade. He held up a hand. "Ignore me, I was just thinking."
"Thinking?" Compress echoed. "Do tell."
Dabi pointed towards Tomoru. "I just realized if that is Shigaraki's kid..." Dabi's voice wavered as he hesitated. "Well, I just thought about what y/n had to go through."
Y/n's face felt hot. Her brows furrowed, and she frowned at Dabi. "Shut up." The patchworked villain smirked in response.
Himiko giggled. "That is exactly what Tomura would say! How cute!" she cooed. Y/n felt her face heat up even more.
The group stayed together for a while longer. Twice wanted to hold Tomoru, so y/n gently handed off the baby to him. Eventually, Spinner and Compress took a closer look at Tomoru. Dabi continued to quietly stay at a distance. At this rate, y/n was just happy he was staying. Usually, Dabi was the first one to leave.
The door swung open, and all the noise stopped. Tomura was standing at the door. Y/n noticed his eyes scanning the room. Tomura grumbled under his breath and headed towards the bedroom.
"Tomura!" Himiko called out. She had a toothy smile on her face. "Do you want to hold Tomo?"
"No." Tomura spoke in a near whisper. He neither took the time to think about Himiko's question or even turn around and look at her. Y/n sighed, sadly.
Himiko, on the other hand, looked furious. Her smile was gone entirely, and she was frowning. Himiko had her hands firmly planted on her hips. Y/n knew the blonde villain well enough that she was mere moments away from chasing after Tomura.
Y/n reached out and grabbed Himiko's hand. She turned to look at y/n. "Thank you, Himiko, but don't worry about it."
Tomura's distancing hurt y/n more than anyone could ever imagine. However, y/n thought about the bright side. Tomoru wasn't dead. The Tomura she had met years ago would have killed the baby without hesitation. Her baby was not only still alive, but Tomura didn't object to y/n taking the baby with her into his home.
Himiko's eyes darted from Tomura to her. "Are you sure?" She looked confused and worried. Y/n smiled warmly and nodded.
The bedroom door closed. "Sounds like the party is over, I'm out." As usual, Dabi was the first to leave.
