My meeting the next morning was early. At least this time I didn't get lost. We worked on the final details of the line. I was super excited for a marble print that we were using. I couldn't tell which pattern for the line I was more excited for.
Tomorrow would be the photoshoot for the outfits. They gave me the go ahead to use the prototype outfit for one of my YouTube videos, so I was all for it. The meeting had been scheduled early so that I could start working on the video after lunch.
As I was changing into my outfit I got a DM on Instagram. To my surprise it was from Pete Davidson. All it had was a phone number. I tried to just copy the number but the joy of having a smart phone, it called it.
He answered on the second ring. "Hello?"
"Oh did I wake you up?" I asked, hoping I wasn't bothering him.
His laugh came through the speaker. "Nah, I just always sound like I'm half asleep. Look like it too."
I laughed. "So you gave me your number...."
"Well I was going to see what you were up to today."
I bite my lip, trying to hold back my excitement. "Well in about an hour I'm going to work on one of my videos. I'm going to that AquaCycling class that everyone's talking about. Then just editing the video to post it by tonight."
"Want a special guest on the video?" He asks.
"You'd come to an AquaCycling class?" I try to picture it in my mind.
It wouldn't be the first time that I've had special guests on my videos. My friends would sometimes make an appearance for a fitness class with me. Last year I had two other fitness influencers appear. This would be the first time of having a celebrity of this variety.
"As long as you don't laugh at how out of shape I am." He says.
"No laughing I promise. Being in shape doesn't mean anything though, you should see the videos of me at the pole dancing classes. It was nothing but me busting my ass."
"Give me your hotel address and I'll be there in an hour." Pete says.
I gave him the address and then we hung up. As much as I wanted to be cute and have my makeup done, I knew it wasn't possible. I'd be in a pool and a workout class. I picked out the new gym to swim shorts and bra from my new line. I was obsessed with the fun tropical leaf pattern. Really glad that I'd been working on my tan before coming here.
It was about forty five minutes when I heard a knock on the door. Trying not to seem to over eager, I slowed my pace to answer the door. Pete stood there with a goofy little grin on his face. His overly large band T-shirt almost covered his swim shorts.
"Is this gym attire?" He asks. "Can't remember the last time I've been to one."
"I laughed. It'll be perfect. I have thirty minutes to film the intro for the video before we leave. Also if we could get a picture together to announce the video, if that's not asking too much of you." I tell him.
"Nah, I figured that would happen when I volunteered. I'm here for anything you need." Oh how I couldn't help but wish there was a double meaning to that.
We took a photo together. Inwardly I gushed over how cute it was. I made a copy of that photo so that I could edit a cover on his face. Soon the photo was up announcing that a new video would be posted tonight with a mystery guest. Comments started rolling in with the guesses of who it was.
The balcony of my hotel room was the perfect setting for the video intro. It had that lovely New York view in the background. I set up the camera, checking to see if the lighting was good enough or if I'd need my ring light. Finally once it was all good.
"So what do we do?" Pete asks, sitting down next to me once we started rolling.
"This is where I introduce you and what we are doing today." I say. "Hello everyone I'm here with my special guest, Pete Davidson. Today we are going to go AquaCycling, a big trend here in New York."
"How many times do I have to blink if I'm being kidnapped?" Pete jokes.
I laughed. "It's not a ransom video, Pete."
"That's what my mom thought when I told her my plans for the day." He says.
After a few takes we had enough clips for the intro. We also had a great blooper reel that I was probably more excited for. Thankfully with his knowledge of the city, it didn't take us long to get to the gym. I'd already made a call to add one more to my reservation for the class.
AquaCycling is not easy. It was fun, mostly due to the jokes that Pete kept cracking. Combining swimming and cycling is a weird feeling on your bones. My muscles felt like jelly as I was trying to get out of the pool. I was a little shaky once I was on dry land, thankfully Pete caught me before I could fall.
"How do you do this all the time?" Pete asks once we made it to the elevator of my hotel.
"It's fun trying something new." I said. "Plus you don't always hurt like this after. I didn't think this would be so bad."
"It was fun, I'll admit that." He smiles at me. "Now what?"
"Now I edit everything quickly then post it."
"Want company?" He asks. "I don't have to be at work for another four hours."
"That's fine." I smile.
We go out to the patio to edit the video after ordering room service. It was nice to just sit there and talk. The video was so funny. Both of us were dying laughing at ourselves from whatever we were saying or the crazed faces that we made.
"I can't believe you tried to jump on my back when we were still in the pool." I said as we rewatched it.
It was the very end of the class, we were going to get out of the pool. Next thing I know this giant of a man had jumped onto my little 5'2 self. We both were laughing as we watched our video selves going under the water. There was no way I could have held him up after such an intense workout class.
"I was tired." He says with a wink.
"Next time I'm gonna jump on your back." I tell him. "We'll see how you like it."
"So the next date I get to look forward to you being all over me?" His eyes sparkled at that. "I'm cool with that."
"This was a date?" I question using his own words.
A sheepish look overtook the grin. He rubbed the back of his neck. "I mean I don't do this very much, but I kinda was hoping it would be one."
I grabbed his hand. "I'd like it if this was a date."
