"I threw a wish in the well, don't ask me I'll never tell but now you're in my way. I trade my soul for a wish, pennies and dimes for a kiss."

Carly Rae Jepsen blared from my phone waking me up from my lovely sleep and I rolled over groaning into my pillow. It's day like these I dread the most. The first day of school. The day where normal people get to reunite with their friends they didn't see over the summer and connect over stories of adventures they had when apart. For me, its another day of hell.

No, I don't hate school in fact I'm a straight A student and love nothing more than to find a lonely place to hide away and stick my nose in my favorite book while the world passes me by. Or until my best friend Chelsea finds me and starts dishing to me about the latest gossip occurring in our school.

Its hilarious how two people who are the complete opposite can be as close as the two of us are, then again I think Chelsea has just accepted the fact over the years that I'm never going to be the social pariah she is and I plan to keep it that way. It's worked for me this long.

There's a slight knock on my bedroom door before it opens and I hear my moms voice fill the air.

"Sarah, sweetheart its time to get up. Don't you want to have time to get ready and look nice for your first day of senior year?"

Once again  I groan, honestly that is the last thing I want. Most girls at 17 care about what they wear and the latest fashion trends. Me, I'm content throwing on a cute t-shirt with some skinny jeans to pair it with and one of my many pairs of converse littering my closest floor. My hair is average brunette and it already falls down in waves so I don't have much to do there and I wear glasses so I refuse to wear make up. Why draw attention where it isn't needed.

Sighing into my pillow knowing my mom isn't going to leave until I at least show an attempt of getting up, I throw my comfy blankets off my and sit up.

I look up at my mother and she smiles at me taking that as her job is done and leaves closing the door behind her.

My phone blares again with the same song I chose for Chelsea back in middle school and I roll my eyes knowing she isn't going to give up until I answer the phone.

Reaching over to my nightstand I swipe the my screen and Chelsea's loud mouth echos from the reciever.

"About time you answered the phone! I thought I was going to have to storm up to your room and dragged your butt out of bed.

Rolling my eyes at how dramatic she is I stand up and stretch my arm not currently holding my phone to my ear and walk towards my closet.

"Good morning to you to Chels,"

"It sure is! Senior Year is a great reason to be cheerful!"

I laugh into the phone at her craziness as I begin pulling my clothes off their hanger and on to my body.

"Its just another day Chelsea."

"Sarah Magdaline Walters are you crazy its freaking senior year the last year of miserable high school before we become adults and head out into the real world! How are you not more excited?!

"Chelsea its just another day and tomorrow will be no different. You of all people know I just want this year to be over with so I can go to college and start my life. High school just doesn't mean that much to me."

"Yes I know, ,miss boring, but I'm telling you girl this year I just have a feeling there are going to be some surprises in store for you and you too will have a great last year of high school, just wait and see."

"Whatever you say Chels, now let me go so I can get ready."

I hang up before she can respond and grab my jean jacket slipping it on over my blue floral blouse and pulling my white converse on.
