In about two hours, they were on their way back from the station...it had been so emotional for him especially because he had to relieve the whole ordeal surrounding Mike's death. His parents were also there trying to ascertain what had happened to their son... he felt so guilty seeing his mum break down in tears, oblivious of how she'd go on from now without her only son. As if that wasn't enough, he felt the cops were trying to place him at the stage of the crime. Did they actually think he'd kill his own friend?
Placing her head outside the window as Brandon drove through the quiet road, she let the cool breeze wash through her face allowing it to clarify all of the mixed feelings bottled inside of her. As she guessed, they had dismissed all the information she gave them about someone stalking her. They had predicted it to be coming from a teenager who couldn't handle his hormones and they assured her that if she felt directly threatened, she could come and file for a complaint and then they would have a case. The uncertainties she felt were eating her up... and she knew quite well that the antidote to whatever she was feeling now, sat beside her with his hands on the steering... focused to a fault. She had barely said a word to him all day and part of her knew that she was being so unfair to him especially because she knew he was in between a rock and a hard place and needed as much solitude that he could get. Uhm about last night, you've barely said a word about it... Brandon interrupted her thoughts. She looked at him defiantly... there's nothing to talk about so please let's act like nothing happened. I can't go on like we shared nothing...I'm sure you felt it too. What are you really afraid of huh? I can wait honestly... there's no rush, take your time... all I need to know is if you're in this with me. I'm not interested Brandon! get yourself another woman, she said but was immediately transfixed as the car came to an abrupt halt. Brandon breathing fast now, immediately stepped out of the car on seeing a wounded animal he presumed to be a dog on the road bleeding carelessly, an inch in front of them. He inspected his tire and realized that it was deflating due to some sharp objects that laid scattered around on the road. As he was about moving further to take a proper look on the wounded animal, a heavy object from behind landed on his head springing him into partial unconsciousness followed by immense pain and then blackout. Brandon? she was in despair still clueless of what just happened. She jerked when a horrible looking man triggered immediately into the car trying to get a hold of her. She ventured into the back seat kicking and fighting with every strength she had in her. He held her legs and flipped her over desperately trying to keep her in place to gain control. She scratched his face and punched him in the nose and he wailed... bitch! He took out a syringe from his back pocket and held her leg in place before injecting her with the substance. She grew quiet all of a sudden as the drugs started taking its effect on her. Yeah, that's how I like them... quiet and calm as an angel; he laughed before pulling her out and disappearing into the woods.
Brandon fought to regain consciousness as his head ached horribly. Lying by the side of the road, his eyes were dimmed beyond imagination and blood gushed out of his head. He staggered and helped himself by leaning on the bark of a tree. He got up and scanned the area, Marcie was nowhere in sight... he screamed her name uncontrollably... Oh God, I can't lose her too please help me. He stepped into his car and reversed... heading back to the station, determined to make it no matter how slow he had to drive due to the severing of his tire.
