*Chan's POV*
I never realized before that Moonie made me feel any way that's different, maybe if I had things could be different between us.
No, stop, I shouldn't be thinking about that, she's my best friend and she's found her soulmate. Her fate chosen person to love and hold romantically, she can love me but only as a friend.
I turn on the radio to tune these thoughts out, but none of these songs are anything I want to listen to. They're all cheesy love songs, I can't listen to them without thinking of her. It's wrong, and I know it. But honestly, I can't help myself thinking about all of these what ifs. What if the system is broken? What if we were meant to be soulmates but our obliviousness destroyed our chance? What if platonic soulmates exist and that's why my heart feels the way it does? What if my heart just latched itself to the first girl who showed me kindness and that's why I think I'm in love with her?
Before I know it I pull up to the house, Hyunjin is sitting on the steps waiting for me. He looks tired, I wonder what's wrong.
"Hey, hyung, where were you?" he asks lazily, "We already ate and all that. Felix and Seungmin are playing video games again. Changbin and Woojin are watching anime together. Jeongin is half asleep and Minho is passed out."
"Thanks Jinnie, sorry I was out for so long, Moonie's family invited me in for dinner," I answer, patting his head, "Well more like I invited myself in, I've known that family for years and there was never a time they turned me away."
Hyunjin smiled, "Was it hard for you to see her with Jisung?"
His question threw me off, how could he tell? I don't act any way that would make it seem like I love her or something.
"I mean it had to awaken your overbearing, super protective instincts, right? You guys were so close she was like a sister to you," Hyunjin says, with a soft smile.
I smile, relieved that he couldn't tell what I was thinking, "I mean, I guess it did. But it seems Jisung is the perfect guy for her. He's weird in all the right ways and he makes her laugh in ways that I never knew she did. She looks very happy to be around him. They immediately clicked, they have a lot in common. It's really cute to see."
"So you trust Jisung with Y/N, you're not gonna go crazy older brother on him?" Hyunjin asked me, with a skeptical look on his face. He doesn't trust me to not be overbearing and ruin their relationship.
"I promise not to be overbearing on their relationship and scare Jisung away. I actually really like him," I answer him with a smile, I genuinely do like Jisung. He's kind and polite and perfect for Moonie no matter how much it hurts me to say.
"Good, cause I don't wanna lose these friends I've just made."
"Let's go inside."*Y/N's POV*
I'm just waiting on Jisung's call, he said he'd call as soon as he got home. Maybe Chan took the long way to take him home so that they could talk more. Maybe he decided to take a shower right after he got home. Whatever it is, I might be asleep before he calls. It's whatever though, I'll see him tomorrow no matter what. I anxiously wait for my phone to ring, I just want to FaceTime Jisung.
I hear my phone ring, but it's just a text from Chan. Wait. Chan texted me? Why?
All he said is that it was great to see me again, that we let too much time pass between seeing each other. I sent him a quick I had missed you too and continue staring at the screen, until it turned off. I've been doing that for like 20 minutes before I give up. I change into my comfiest pajamas, take off my makeup, do my skincare routine, and throw my hair in a couple braids.
I lay down, all comfortable finally and feel myself starting to doze off when I hear my phone ring again. This time I'm pretty sure it was Jisung calling, so I obviously pick up.
"Hello?" comes from the other line, that isn't Jisung's voice, not at all. "Is this a Miss Moon Y/N?"
I laugh, this has to be one of the boys Felix and Chan live with, "This is she, what's up?"
"Well this is Jisung's father, I met you today at my ice cream store. You're my son's soulmate, right?"
"Yeah, I am, sir," I paused, "Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Just please, take good care of my son. I hate seeing him sad."
I smile at the idea of Jisung's father being so protective of him, "I promise to take care of Jisung and love him as much if not more than he deserves."
I hear Jisung in the back whining for his dad to give him his phone back so he can talk to me, I can hear how embarrassed he is and it's honestly adorable.
"Can I talk to Jisung now?" I whine at his dad, anxious to talk to my love again.
His dad laughs lightly, "Of course, of course. I should leave you guys alone."
Jisung grabs his phone and changes the call to FaceTime, "Finally, I see my little loves face again! I've missed you, Moonie."
"I've really missed you too, Sungie," I sleepily say into the phone, "What're you doing up so late? Shouldn't you be asleep? Don't you have work in the morning?"
"I probably should be sleeping but how could I fall asleep without seeing your beautiful face? Trick question: I couldn't. And what's a few hours of sleep to seeing my little love?"
I can't help but smile, "What took you so long, 'Sungie?"
His face flushes bright pink, "W-well I had to tell my parents about you and how amazing you are. How could I not? You are my soulmate, after all."
His sincere smile warms my heart, and the look on his face makes me blush, "Well, my mom won't be quiet about how sweet you are, and how she wants me to invite you to our big family dinner. Where we have over my brother's soulmate, Taeyong over too. She'll probably invite Chan and Felix too, especially now that she knows they're back from Australia."
"Well, make sure Mom knows I'll be there for sure, I really like your family, lovey."
"Of course I will, she's already so excited. It's at the end of the month so like, a week or two from today."
"I'll make sure I'm not working at the ice cream shop, maybe we can see if Mom will invite my parents? Then it will really be a big family dinner."
"Oh my god! 'Sungie! You're a genius, I'll ask her in the morning. That would be really great, I'd love to meet your mom, especially since you've met mine."
He giggled, the sweetest, softest, purest giggle, "You think I'm a genius?"
"Yeah, you had the idea to invite your parents, that is pure genius."
"You're so beautiful, Y/N, you know that right?"
I felt my cheeks warm, and hid my face under my blanket, "Shhhh"
"Aww is my little Y/N-ie shy now? It's adorable when you do that. Everything you do is adorable."
I stare at him, eyes wide in awe of how adorable he is, "I miss you 'Sungie, I can't wait to see you again."
He smiles widely at me, "What do you think we should do tomorrow?"
"Well, we could go back to the arcade, since we didn't get to finish our arcade date. Or whatever you'd like to do."
"Maybe we could go to a cat cafe, or a dog cafe."
I smile at the thought of seeing Jisung surrounded by with cute pets, "That would be so nice. I'd love to go to a cat cafe with you."
He smiles at me softly, "Are you sleepy? You can go to sleep if you want."
"But I want to talk to you, I missed the sound of your voice," I whine back to him, "Just keep talking to me, my love."
"Okay, my love. I don't mind just talking to you. Anything for me to be able to keep seeing your beautiful face."
I giggle at him, he's adorable. I love his facial expressions, they're all so adorable. He starts telling me an extremely animated story about a trip he went on with his parents.
I fell asleep to the sound of his voice, goodness is it soothing to listen to him talk.
