I stared at the screen bored, I was at max level in all of the games. I Had all the items and I finished the special event. I looked at the dark mirror placed at an angle, I had grown skinny, not growing since that day 2 years ago. I'm now 14, my eyes looked cold and dead placed into a pale freckled face. My hair hadn't changed except for the small bunny clip holding my dark locks back. I looked almost like Willow but sunken and . . . the mirror cracked. Had I hit it? I don't remember.
Looking out of my room, Anes was passed out on the couch. After Willow disappeared . . . she drank. There were three main possibilities for this:
1. She was always struggling with this and without anyone to hold her back she fell into it.
2. It was a way to forget about Willow and Hill.
3. It was something Hill and Anes used to do together but now she does it to remind herself of him.
As she lay there, I snuck into the room. She has been on my mind recently. The stillness of the yellow and white walls comforts me. She loved it in here. Her abandoned soccer jersey hung up on the wall ready to play. I remember how she didn't like staying inside but tried to stay in and play games with me. Willow was a great sister she and I loved to write together in our diaries. Wait . . . diary, Willow had a diary! The diary might be a clue to her whereabouts!
There are 34 places Willow might hide her diary. I searched the places in order of chance Willow would have hidden them there and practicality of getting the Diary. On the third place, in the pocket between her mattress and bed frame, I found it.
The diary was slightly crumpled but it was definitely Willow's. I started to read the well-worn diary. The first entries had bad spelling and handwriting did not look right but as it went on the spelling was fixed and the handwriting became beautiful and flowing. It was interesting seeing into someone's thoughts. Until . . . bingo, I found what I was looking for.
The entry started as it normally did with Willow talking about the events that day until she alluded to going into town after her soccer tournament and meeting a boy who only went by the name 'Daemon.' Daemon seemed to lure Willow and it made her think he was pretty cool. In later entries, Willow stated that Daemon confessed. Confessed to what? Kidnapping children?! Willow said that she couldn't hang out with Daemon anymore, and the diary entries stopped.
A thousand light-bulbs lit up inside my head most burned out leaving one shining the brightest. Daemon must have kidnapped Willow! My head spun.
I quickly gathered up my countless electronics, a few clothes, food, and other essentials, and the diary. I stopped by Anes, looking at her sleeping there I felt bad leaving her all alone in our big house. Taking out a small sticky note I wrote:
Dear Mom, Sorry about leaving I need to find Willow and prove dad's innocent.
Don't follow me, please.
Love your dear daughter,
Lilac
I left the house with Anes' wallet, a list of the cities Willow might have met Daemon, and dad's gun. I walk out into the crisp night air one thought to cross my mind, I'm going to find my sister.
