My third day at the police station, and my ass couldn't hurt more. I mean would it kill them to have one comfortable chair here? I glare at the cushy, spinney chair my state-given lawyer happily sits on.
After finding out that I have no permanent home - well no home I'd let the police know about – they decided it was best I reside in a holding cell in the meantime. For my "safety" and whatever.
What I failed to let the doctor tell me was the fact that there had been two attempts on my life while in the hospital. It doesn't take a detective to figure out who was probably behind it.
"So, we do have a couple of choices to choose in court, if you decide to not plead guilty..." He rambles on.
I'm sure he could talk all day in that comfy chair. If my ass weren't so numb, I'm sure I'd be talking too.
"-Dammit Miss Walters! Are you ever listening to me !?" He shouts.
No.
"Yes?" I wince when it comes out as a question.
"What the hell," he runs his hands through his dark hair. "You know what, here are your choices: seven years in prison, or you can go to G.O.O.D. Boarding school with until graduation and then are reevaluated," he deadpans.
Wait, what?
"Huh?" I freeze and turn my full attention to him.
"I'm sorry Nicole, but you've been here one too many times, so your track record is shit. They ran blood tests, you're full of drugs- you were covered in them and surrounded by dead bodies. It's too much evidence against you, you're going to have to choose," he smiles grimly. "You're just lucky they didn't decide to charge you as an adult considering you turned 18 in the hospital. You'd be looking at least one life sentence then, no choice."
I swallow down any arguments I would like to make, as I know they would do me no good. "Well," I sigh. "Good it is."
I feel the stares on me as I am dragged out of the car, handcuffed. I admit, it wasn't the best idea to try and escape. Knocking out a well-trained officer with backup on speed dial in a child-proofed locked car was not one of my best ideas. But I'd do anything just to find Kaiden. Is everyone okay?
