"just because you can't see him, doesn't mean he's not real!"
"where is he?! what have you done to him?! johnny! johnny please!"
"don't do it kenz..i'm here. i was always here. you just, couldn't see me"
"i'm gonna get you out of her...
tell her what you want. she'll disobey your every word.
it hasn't been a good week for mackenzie. she's still lashing out, still not listening to orders, and the warden is still hurting her.
if only they understood what mackenzie needed, they would stop feeding her those wretched pills.
doctor pierce was escorting mackenzie back to her room with her pills in hand. "you have a nice rest mackenzie, and please take your medicine" she smiled faintly and took small steps into her room.
mackenzie sat on her bed and held her hands in her lap, holding the small white pills in her hand.
she felt something off, and since doctor pierce left she threw them in her empty trash can.
holding on to the little humanity mackenzie has left, she laid her head down on the now clean sheets and went to sleep. entering her dream world where she felt the most safe.
"well, that didn't end the way i expected, but at least nobody important died" mackenzie's eyebrows rose at johnny's commentary. "nobody important?! my mom and sister are dead!"
"but all of those people are alive because of her" mackenzie rolled her eyes and slouched onto the couch she was sitting in. "yeah. cause she wanted to save everyone on the road before herself and our mother"
"and that's a good thing, something you should be proud of kenz" mackenzie loves it when he calls her by the nickname. she feels a sense of safeness as johnny sits next to her. "johnny?.."
"yes?" mackenzie put her head down and played with her fingers. "why don't you show up anymore? i miss you..and the guards aren't very nice to me"
"i do show up..you just can't see me" johnny becomes sad, pulling his legs on the couch to hold. "i knew it! you still care for me"
"of course. why wouldn't i?" mackenzie started thinking. if she can't see johnny..but he is still with her..then what's the problem? "johnny...i think my doctor is poisoning me" johnny's eyes grew wide. "what? poisoning you? but why?"
"to stop me from seeing you..they give me these pills that won't allow me to see you anymore" she grew sad once she realized who was doing it. she thought he actually cared for her.. "my doctor, is the one doing it. he doesn't want me to see you.." but why? why would he do that her?
"then stop taking the pills kenzie"
"i always try..i've been doing that for two years, but then they caught me and made me take them again. but i didn't take one tonight.." mackenzie looks relieved, knowing that she'll be able to see him again outside of her dreams.
"i'd never leave you, you know that right?" johnny asked after grabbing her hand. "yeah..of course." she responded quietly. johnny spoke slowly, "i love y-"
"mackenzie! you didn't take your medicine like you were told!" her eyes flew open to see the warden and six other guards surrounding her. her heart beat picked up and she suddenly felt numb.
mackenzie knew she wasn't dreaming anymore and that bad things were about to happen. but not this..she didn't know this...
