Chapter 5 - Part Two

Past

Mila sent us a text, saying she went home sick. I hope it was nothing bad. I felt horrible about the way things went. I know it hurt her when Jude said he thinks of her like a sister. Something like that to be said is critical.
After school I told Lucas that Jude and I would be going over to check on Mila. Lucas wanted to come with us but I told him it would be better if Jude and I talked to her first.

"All right, just call me if you need anything," Lucas said.

"Ok, see you tonight." I responded, leaning over to kiss him goodbye.

"Let's hurry this process up, no time for to swallow each other's faces," we heard Jude say from behind us, he was oh so polite.

Jude driving was scary fast. I don't know if he usually drives like this, it was dangerous but exhilarating at the same time. We got to Mila place in under ten minutes. I noted the way Jude looked extremely nervous as we headed towards Mila's door.

"I know Mila likes me. I just don't think I'm the one for her," Jude blurted out as we waited for someone to open up the door.

"Then who is?" Her voice said from behind us. Jude and I held our breaths as we turned to face her. She had a bunch of groceries in her hand, she looked a bit pale in the face, but didn't look sick at all.

"Uh..uhh...uhhh.. Let me help you with those." Jude stammered snatching the groceries off Mila's hands,

"Mila, we thought you were sick and came to check up on you," I said, engulfing her into a hug "I'm glad you're not though."

"Oh yeah. Just head pains a bit nothing serious." She told the both us whilst trying to open the door. She led us through her house and into the kitchen. We both sat silent on the bar stool as she packed away the groceries. Her parents where no where in sight. By this time, her mother would always have something baking in the oven.

"So, tell me Jude, why you think you're not the one for me," Mila wondered over to where we were sitting and stood in front of Jude. He looked extremely uncomfortable and tugged on his shirt. Jude Ford in this position was one for the movies. He would usually avoid situations like these one and stick to one time girls. With Mila it was a whole different story.

"Well you see Mila, I'm not one of those guys who stick around very much. You're the type of girls who needs a man to stick by her whenever. Actually.... I really don't know what I'm saying. I guess it's hard to be in a committed relationship right now. I mean you're the perfect girl a guy can have... Same goes for you Serena. Heck, if I was like Lucas then maybe we could be together. You know the story at home with my dad and I need to focus on that as well. All of this is not a good explanation on why I'm not the one for you, but I needed to say something."

I was taking in all the words he just said. I kind of understood what he was saying, especially with his dad battling cancer it was hard. Mila's eyes had started to water when Jude brought his dad up.

"I'm so sorry. I overreacted this past week, and you didn't deserve what I said to you, forgive me?" Mila stated giving a smile.

"Only if you forgive me," Jude said pulling Mila down onto his lap, kissing her cheeks. I watched them going on back and forth, if Jude couldn't be the one for Mila now. Or as he says he can't. I'm pretty sure in the future he would be.

"Where's your lover?" Mila asked me. We were all seated in the lounge area, going through a bunch of channels.

"Lucas probably at home, training is not today for him. Speaking of Lucas, he wanted to stop by as well but I told him it was probably better if Jude and I checked up in you first,"

"Or his probably hanging out with Maya, she asked him out to watch a movie in Science," Thanks for the new information Jude. A little too late to mention that.

"Probably." I said. I was hoping he declined the offer, but even if he didn't, I know he won't try anything.

A felt a buzz in my jean pocket, looking at the message it was from Lucas.

Lucas: Maya wanted to go watch a movie. Forgot to mention it when I saw you. I didn't go. I'm with Sadie and Brooklyn. Sadie is teasing Brooklyn, apparently he has this crush on a new girl.

I laughed out loud at that and texted back:

Me: He had five different crushes already, and all at just twelve. You should question Sadie on whether she has a crush on anybody yet.

Lucas: Oh God, she's still a baby to be having a crush.

Me: Brooklyn has had five crushes and you say nothing. For Sadie it's a different thing. Just wait until you have a daughter.

Lucas: Our daughter isn't going on a date until she's twenty. Especially if she looks like you ;)

Me: Shut Up.

My insides lit up when he texted me that. I know my face was burning up. And definitely my heart was on flames. I always wondered what it would be like having Lucas kids. He was handsome and I'd hope our kids would inherit his eye color.

Lucas: Just asked Sadie if she had a crush and she went bat-shit crazy.

Me: Hahaha

"Mila, do we seriously have to watch Pretty In Pink?" Jude asked in a drained voice.

"No we don't. The door is right there. Feel free to walk out," She responded.

"You shouldn't be watching chick flicks, you'd be getting your hopes up for a cliche romance," Jude told Mila, looking at her knowingly.

"Fine. Just pick out a movie you want to watch," Mila said not even bothering to argue back with what Jude just said. When Jude picked out fast and furious, I rolled my eyes, he drives like them no wonder. Mila and I enjoyed watching the beautiful men in this movie driving cars the way the did. Once the credits rolled in at the end, I was pretty exhausted.

We said our goodbye to Mila and she watched us walk to Jude's car. I took my phone out and texted Lucas that I will just see him tomorrow, being tired and all. Looking at my phone I was near the middle of the road when a long beep came from my left side, I faintly heard Mila and Jude's name calling my name out to watch out. The head lights caught my attention and were a few feet away. I stumbled back and tripped, landing on my butt.

Quickly recovering I got up and looked in the direction the car went. Jude and Mila were by my side asking me if I was okay.

"That fucking idiot didn't stop,"

"Serena, do you want to go back to mine?" Mila asked, checking for any bruises forming on my body.

"No, I'm fine. That was just a really close call," I heard a faint buzz coming from the ground and went to get my phone.

Lucas: Goodnight. I love you

Looking up I stared back into the direction where the driver sped off. And felt a chill run down my spine.
