You ask why I'm always there for you
I'm there for you because that's just my way of making others feel seen, to make them feel like they're worth something
Is it bad that I want to be a good friend?
That I push away my tiredness because I know that it'll make your day a bit better
That it'll keep you out of the house for a little longer because I know how it makes you feel
Do you ask just for me to say no?
Every time you ask, I hear it with an undertone of desperation
A cry for help disguised as a casual thing
But I see through that fake mask you put up for yourself
And I know what goes through your brain
Your presence makes me feel good
You're one of the few people to make me feel comfortable in my own skin
And that gives you a special place in my life
So I'm sorry
If I led you on
If I made you confused
and I'm there for you because I wish someone was there for me.
