Tw: PTSD, mentions of anxiety, panic attack,
Izuku smiled brightly as the lilac-haired boy stepped through the door.
"I'm Shinsou Hitoshi, and I'm not here to make fri-" Shinsou started, but was cut off.
"Don't. Say. That. Friendship is inevitable in this disaster of a class..." Bakugou warned.Shinsou looked at Midoriya for confirmation. Izuku just excitedly nodded his head.
This is going to be a long school year, Shinsou thought.
2:35 pm
Shinsou had been given almost the entire day to set up his room, of course, the walls and floor had been deep cleaned by the boys of Class 1-A, all of his stuff that he didn't take with him thrown out. They had even paid to replace his desk at school (everyone, not just the boys)!
"Hey Shinsou! Your room's right next to mine! How cool is that!" Izuku cheered, but secretly, he was worried. Mineta usually had.. noises...in his room, and Aoyama played loud music all the time. He was worried that Shinsou would hear one of his panic attacks, anxiety attacks, mental breakdowns, excessive muttering, ect.
"Hm, that is pretty cool," Shinsou reremarked.
"Wanna hang out? We can watch movies or something!" Izuku smiled, sure it was fake, but only half faked. While they were hanging out, someone started setting fireworks off in the distance. Izuku flinched when the loud 'booms' were heard. He attempted to stay calm, however his mind took over and his heart started racing.
"Midoriya? Are you okay?" Shinsou asked, before realizing his state. "Ok, can I touch you?"
Instead of responding, Midoriya just stared. Not wanting to disturb the boy, Shinsou quickly got a bottle of water out of their mini-fridge and set it down on the side table. He grabbed his weighted blanket (which also came with a built-in heater) and put it on the bed. He asked Midoriya once more if he could touch him, to which Midoriya nodded slightly. Shinsou then wrapped the blanket around him.
"You're going to be okay, I'm here. It will be over soon, this is temporary, you're going to be alright. Focus on my voice. You're not going to die and you are not having a heart attack. You will be just fine, okay?" Shinsou reassured.
Shinsou grabbed his headphones and connected them to his phone. He started playing 'Weightless' by Marconi Union, a song know for having calming effects on people. He hoped that playing the song at full volume would block out the noise of the fireworks, therefore removing the stressor and hopefully shortening the attack. If he couldn't hear the fireworks, then the panic attack would only last for half an hour or so, Shinsou hoped. He knew from experience how awful panic attacks could be, so he tried his best to be comforting.
When the panic attack had mostly subsided, Izuku was shaking. He raised his arm up to remove the headphones, but Shinsou motioned for him not to, as the fireworks were currently in the finale (a.k.a the loudest part). He looked into the eyes of Izuku and saw bags, closer to his own than he had previously noticed; tears welling up and streaming down like rivers; quivering lips that showed just how petrified the boy is; and bright green eyes that showed fear. Shinsou knew right then and there that he had to protect Izuku. He never wanted to see those bright beautiful emerald eyes filled with tears (or fear) ever again.
