Chapter Fifteen -
-Megan's Point of View-
"Are you sure you want to come along, Lily?" I ask my mother in law. I don't want to seem rude, she's a lovely lady and everything but it'd be a bit awkward.
"Of course! I've almost forgotten to give back to the community. I need a break from all the business drama," she smiles at me.
She called the house yesterday to see how we were doing and I told her that I'd be helping out at a charity event. Lily, being as generous as she always is, practically begged to come along. She said her and I need to bond.
Bond with Freya, your son and her were getting along quite well not more the three days ago. Speaking of, I haven't seen Jay since our little encounter the other morning. One of our hotels had a problem in California and he had to fly out there immediately.
And how have I been doing for those two days? Well let's just say I got a little carried away. Went overboard shopping, drank endless cups of amazingly brewed coffee and got a dog. I adopted a baby golden retriever on one of those puppy websites yesterday.
Picked her up this morning and I'm in love with her! I'm kind of in love with the fact Jay doesn't know and he could potentially kill me. But who cares, I have a puppy!
I still have no clue on what to name her. The name 'Pedro' is sort of not leaving my mind. Yes Pedro is a girl. It's settled.
"Welcome home, Pedro! Mommy's gonna take such good care of you!" I take it up carefully in my hands. Pedro has the cutest brown eyes ever!
She barks in a cute 'I'm still a baby trying to sound tough' type of bark. "Don't worry, big old mean Jay won't hurt you. I'll cut his balls off if he tries to."
I put her back down in the basket I got her yesterday right after I decided I was going to buy her. It's brown with a yellow blanket. "You hungry?" I ask her as if she's capable of answering me.

I'd be a great mother.
After I've placed her bowl down, I hear my phone ringing on the counter. I swipe the screen when I realise it's Soph.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Meg! Em Mark and I just left the house, we'll be at yours in about ten minutes kay?"
"Alright, yeah that's fine. Hurry! Pedro's excited to meet you!"
"Pedro? Megan, I thought you adopted a girl,"
"I did."
"What? Megan you can't call her Pedro! That's basically animal cruelty!"
"That's complete nonsense! What females can't have the same names as men? I'm standing up for women's rights."
"Right, kay.." I know she's shaking her head at Mark in their car, "this conversation isn't over yet. Just be ready by the time we get there."
We hang up after and I smile down at my new baby. I give her water and watch her play around with her toys. I'm going to love her forever!
The doorbell rings after ten minutes and Sophia and Mark are waiting outside. Mark's coming over to babysit Pedro while Sophia and I drive to the charity event.
I greet them and walk them over to where Pedro is chasing her little tail in the living room.
"I can't believe you got a dog, Meg," Sophia says, patting her belly while Mark chuckles.
