Chapter Nine -

-Megan's Point of View-

"Hello," Michael greets us with the warmest smile and the nicest set of teeth. I hold my hand out to shake his back.

"Hi," I smile back. He turns over to Jay after our exchange and shakes his hand too.

"So," Rachel starts, "Jay and Megan are going to be staying for the night because they got lost and their car is apparently 'a million miles away'." I giggle lightly at Rachel while she holds her fingers up to use air quotes.

"No problem, welcome to stay," I can't ignore Michael's lovely British accent, who could?

"Right, well if you don't mind, my wife and I will head off to bed, it's been a long day," I hear Jay speaking as he tries to guide me out of the kitchen.

"Jay, it's only around 5:30, don't be ridiculous."

"But I'm exhausted," he complains, making what looks as if the puppy dog face. That won't work on me, no matter how cute you look.

"Then you can go ahead, I'll just have a chat with Rachel and Michael."

Before Jay can exit the room, Rachel laughs up at us. I can't help but notice how her eyes crinkle when she laughs, just like Michael's when he smiles.

"Alright, alright, you two love birds can go on ahead, I'm sure you are tired," she has an identical accent to Michael's.

"Thanks Rachel," Jay replies. So you say thanks to her but you can't even say hello to me. Oh okay, I see how it is.

Deciding that I won't be rude, I look up at Michael and Rachel and try to copy their beautiful smiles. "Thank you again, Rachel. We'll see you in a couple hours."

They wave at us and Jay pulls me over to what will be our bedroom for the night. Then it dawns on that I'll be sharing a room with him. This day just keeps getting better and better, doesn't it?

When the door opens and I walk in after Jay, I'm horrified that there's only one single bed. How are we both going to fit on that thing?

I instantly run over to it and make a starfish position, covering the whole bed so he can't have any of it. He got my coffee cup, he definitely won't be getting the bed.

"What the hell are you doing?" He asks me, looking at me as if I'm a five year old.

"N-nothing, stretching, you know, the rain, yeah," I realise then that what I've just said makes no sense whatsoever.

He raises his eyebrows and crosses his arms. You look like a twit, stop it. Then again I can't say much, I'm sprawled across the bed so I can have it all to myself.

"Move over, I'm exhausted and you've pissed me off," there's no trace of humour in his voice.

Well Jay, I'm exhausted and you make me want to jump off the Empire State Building and into a tank of sharks, on my period.

Instead I close my eyes and act as if I'm sleeping. I know he knows I'm faking but I just want him to get the message that I'm not sharing.

"Move or I'll make you sleep in the bathtub," hearing this makes me bolt my eyes open. Knowing Jay, he won't have any trouble doing just that.

"Can't you just sleep on the floor? Here you can even have the extra duvet and the fluffy pillow," I try to offer but he doesn't give in not does he look likes he's planning to give in.

"Fine," I mutter and move to side closer to the wall.

It's only around 5:45 but free our crazy day, I could fall asleep sitting on a chair.
