EdinburghThe crowd uproared as the Kennedys stepped out of Air Force One. Jack and Jackie descended as the people of Scotland cried out: "John! Jackie!"
Jack laughed. "It's funny not being called Jack" Jack joked. Jackie laughed. "I think more people are here 'cause you are" Jack added.
Jackie blushed before they stepped off the steps and onto the runway. In front of them stood a long row of Scottish politicians.
"Welcome to Scotland, President Kennedy". The British Prime Minister: Alec Douglas Home welcomed them. "It's a pleasure to be in this wonderful country" Jack smiled before Jackie shook his hand.
After greeting the politicians, the Kennedys climbed into the covered Presidential limosuine. Jack took Jackie's hand just as they began to pull away.
"You were wonderful" he commented. Jackie grinned. They then turned and waved to the crowds. Jackie sat the red roses that she had received in between her and Jack.
As the Kennedys pulled away from the airport towards the city, Jack noticed the roses.
"I think they're appropriate" Jack said pointing to the flowers. Jackie knew why. "Well, Robert Burns wrote about them" Jackie added. Jack nodded.
Then the motorcade pulled into the city. "John! Jackie!" The crowds roared as the motorcade pulled bye. As the Kennedys waved and smiled, the crowd grew louder.
The limosuine passed the castle. "That's Edinburgh Castle, up there on the volcano" Alec pointed from his jumpseat to the castle.
"A volcano?!" Jackie was stunned. Alec explained how the volcano was extinct so it wouldn't erupt again. Jack and Jackie listened as Alec described landmarks as they passed them.
The car then crept along the Royal Mile. The entourage pulled up outside the Palace of Holyrood. As the Kennedys got out, they were escorted inside to the private rooms.
"You shall occupy bedrooms often used by the royal family when they come to visit the country". The Kennedys seemed satisfied.
After ten minutes, Alec left them to settle.
