Collin’s POV:
I smiled down at the number that glistened on my Blackberry screen as my friends, Keaton, Josh, Nick, and Trevor, were devouring the left over brownies the lunch ladies had given us earlier.
I was tempted to call her now, but being that we can’t have our cell phones on during the school day, I resisted the temptation and went back to eating my food.
“What are you doing after school guys?” Trevor asked before taking a big bite of his sandwich.
I cleared my throat and looked up at him with a mischievous smile.
“I’m going on a date with a freshman,” I said, with the smile still in place, and winked, knowing that they’d start teasing me relentlessly for the next week or so.
Trevor suddenly started choking on his food as the rest of my friends burst out laughing.
“You’re kidding right?” Keaton asked me with his eyebrows arched as he stuffed another piece of brownie into his mouth.
“I’m not kidding. I swear that by the end of this year, I can have her fall head over heels in love with me,” I lobbied the lunch table for a bet to pursue.
Josh took a napkin and wiped his mouth as the corners of his mouth were twitching like crazy.
“I bet you can’t,” Josh smirked, then grabbed my brownie off of the tray and ate it.
“Fifty bucks says she’ll be running for the hills,” Nick said in agreement and extended his hand out towards the middle of the table, waiting for someone to comply with it.
I put my hand in and smiled wildly to my friends. “I’m in.”
“I’m in,” Josh put his hand on top of mine as the others followed suit.
“I’m in,”
“I’m in,” Trevor said as he winked at me when some girls were passing us by.
I smiled to myself; this will be the most fun year of high school yet.
Melisa’s POV:
Nervously, I ran my fingers through my hair as I waited at the ice cream parlor. Why does he even want to date me?
I looked at my watch. It read three o’clock so where the heck is he?
Tired of standing in the heels that Shayla gave me earlier at lunch, I sat down onto a red bench and pulled out a tube of lip gloss. As I applied a layer of gloss, I started contemplating if I really like Collin or not.
Pro: He’s amazingly cute.
Con: He used to date a cheerleader.
Pro: He’s slightly funny.
Con: Everything else that I can’t think of.
Con: He seems like the type that would be cheating on their girlfriends.
I shook my head, there’s definitely no way I’d be continuing to date him from now on. Besides, I’m only in 10th grade; nobody keeps on liking the same person from high school on.
My cell phone rang suddenly, which caused me to jump off of the bench, surprised. Quickly, I shuffled through my handbag and took it out.
I didn’t read the caller ID, but I had an inkling on who it could be.
“Where the heck are you? I’ve been waiting for twenty minutes and you haven’t showed up!” I yelled into the phone, seriously getting madder by the minute.
