Her dirty blonde hair caught my attention as it flew by behind her. She was running down the pier, barefoot in nothing but her bikini. The older man she was with sat, shocked at her sudden outburst. He couldn't take his eyes off her either as she dove into the ocean. Gone in a blur. Like all beauty, she was fleeting. But this was a beauty I could chase. I slid my sandals off, letting my hair loose before I ran after her, diving into the water with an elegant grace my years of swim training taught me. I took a quick look around, but I didn't see her. Only fish and the bottom of boats. Then I saw it, an orange tail off in the distance, heading towards the island. It shimmered in the sunlight as it beat against the water as I gave chase. My own, baby blue, tail beat against the current, chasing the beauty. But beauty is every fleeting, and she disappeared into the sea. Like so many others before her.
