Meanwhile in another part of Europe...
Elisabeth had just come back from the Carpathian Mountains after discovering Ash's unawakened soul. Kukri told her that it would take a while for him to awaken.
"Leave it to me, I'll take care of him," said Kukri. "He needs some care."
"Thank you, Kukri," Elisabeth said gratefully. "I'll stay around here until he's back."
"Oh no, please don't," said Kukri. "You go back to your home in France. I'll give him back to you when the time comes."
"That would be great," said Elisabeth. "I am forever in your debt."
"Oh please," said Kukri. "It is my job."
She thanked him and went back to her home in France. She had a long day and fell asleep instantly.
Kukri had a guesthouse not far from Elisabeth's home in France. He safely kept Ash's soul there until he wakes up.
"Well I guess I better rest too," said Kukri. "Goodnight, Ash."
He went to his room and slept too.
In the middle of the night, unbeknownst to Kukri, Ash had awakened. His soul was alive and he was now a human again.
"What is this place?" Ash asked, looking around. "Where am I?"
He looked around and decided to escape from whatever place he was in. He spotted his way of escape, a window. He opened the window and just left the building.
"This place looks familiar," Ash thought as he walked into the dark night with the help of his green flame. "This is... very near Betty's place!"
He walked along the path leading towards the Blanctorche mansion. He found it and stared at it in dismay.
The mansion was in total darkness, implying that Elisabeth was already asleep.
"Oh well I guess I better go in the old fashion way..." Ash said to himself as he cracked his knuckles.
He climbed onto the fence of the Blanctorche property and jumped down on the other side.
"Rats," Ash said, annoyed with his hair. "Where's my headband? My hair's a mess! Oh my nails are much worse!"
He walked around the property and felt around the windows.
"This must be the one," Ash said feeling that particular window.
There was a slight trick to open that window, and only Ash knew. Not even Elisabeth knew about that trick.
"Bingo," he said, opening the window. "Ash, you rock!"
He climbed in and closed the window again as quietly as he can. He walked up the stairs to go to his room.
"Finally, home," he said as he was about to open his room door and go in, but he didn't. He turned around and walked towards Elisabeth's room instead.
He knew that she would leave it unlocked in case he wanted to come in to see her.
He walked towards her king-sized bed and stood beside it.
"I miss you, Betty," he whispered, kneeling beside her. "I miss you so much..."
He looked at her nightstand and saw that there was a picture of her with him when they were younger. He smiled as he remembered the day when the picture was taken.
Then he noticed that his headband was there too, in front of the picture.
"Oh I really miss this," he said, taking his headband and putting it on. "There that's better now."
He decided to sleep with her that night. He always did that when they were kids. Whenever he was scared, he would run out of his room and come to sleep next to his beloved big sister, Betty.
He went to the other side of the bed and laid down beside her. He took his headband off and laid it on the nightstand beside his side of the bed.
He laid down and peacefully drifted off to sleep. In his sleep, he unknowingly clutched her arm like he always did when he was a child.
Elisabeth felt this in her sleep state and even smiled at him before stroking his fluffy blond hair.
Even though she wasn't that much older than him, she still saw him as her son and treated him that way.
They slept peacefully that night. Elisabeth slept in later than usual that day. This was because she was really tired out when she came back from Ukraine the day before.
Ash woke up first and smiled at Elisabeth, who was still fast asleep. He put the blanket over her and went down to the kitchen.
Elisabeth had already rebuilt the mansion that burnt down years ago. Ash was happy about it too and decided to prepare breakfast for Elisabeth as an apology for what he had done.
Meanwhile, Elisabeth woke up and remembered seeing Ash in her sleep. She thought it was all a dream and decided to just brush it off.
But the dream felt so real. She could've sworn that she saw Ash sleeping next to her.
She placed a hand on the empty spot next to her as she got out of bed. She searched for Ash's headband that she always kept on her nightstand and found it missing.
She panicked a little as she frantically searched for it. It was the only thing that Ash left behind besides the memories he had with her.
She teared up as she remembered him and headed downstairs to the kitchen to make breakfast and get the day started.
She was walking towards the kitchen and realised that there was someone in there. There was a nice aroma of something cooking coming from the kitchen.
She stood staring at the kitchen door and decided to go and investigate.
Letting her guard up high, she slowly and quietly went towards the kitchen. She was ready to attack whoever who was in her kitchen.
She tiptoed in and stared in surprise. She only saw the back of the person, but she couldn't be mistaken on who the person was!
"A-Ash?" She said, the name barely escaping her lips. "Is that you? Is it really you, Ash?"
"Oh so you're awake now," Ash said without turning away from the pancakes he was making. "Good morning Betty!"
"ASH!" Elisabeth screamed in joy as she ran to him and hugged him so tightly that they both fell down. "I MISS YOU SO MUCH!"
"Whoa relax, Betty," said Ash, hugging her back and attempting to pull away. "I miss you too."
"Where have you been?" Elisabeth asked. "Don't you EVER dare do what you did back in KOF XIII. You know you left me worried SICK?!"
"It was the only way that I could keep the world safe from Saiki," said Ash. "But that reminds me. Where is he?"
"Probably suffering in hell," Elisabeth said in disgust. "He was trapped in time and disappeared, remember. He's gonna pay for what he's done..."
Elisabeth and Ash were so excited in seeing each other that they didn't notice the smell of something burning on the stove.
