Marie POV
I woke up to the smell of someone cooking and I was confused because my mom never cooked. Then I remembered that I left her and went to Clara's flat. I stretched and got up from the pull out couch, I would move into the spare room later, after I bought a new mattress. Walking into the kitchen, I saw Daisy staring hungrily at Clara and what she was fixing.
"Good morning Marie, did you sleep well?"
"Yeah, you're pull out is surprisingly comfortable" She laughed at me. "I'm going to go grab the dog food from the car" Grabbing my keys I walked out of the flat.
I opened the trunk of the car and took out the dog food and one of my bags. There was a newspaper in the lobby so I snatched it up, hoping it was the part with the job advertisements included.
Back at the apartment I fed Daisy and sat down to have breakfast, which Clara had graciously made for me. "Thank you so much for breakfast, I think I know why you're a culinary arts major."
"You bet you do, did you get the paper?"
"Yeah, I'll look for a job today."
"Good, I'll see you when I get back tonight, we are cooking at a fancy restaurant downtown for a practice session for class. I'm so excited!" You could tell from the joy on her face just how much she was looking forward to this.
I'm smiled at her and told her, "Good luck! Have fun, and don't make a fool of yourself." I winked so she knew I was just messing with her. She rolled her eyes and left.
"Well Daisy, how about we look through the paper and then I'll take you around the corner to the park." She gave me a sloppy grin and wagged her tail.
Flipping through the paper I didn't really see anything that stood out to me for a little while. Then I saw a job where you had to act, and although the description was vague I called them anyway because I had always wanted to act when I was little.
"Hello, how may I assist you today?"
"Umm, I was calling about the job your company put in the paper, the one where you need an actress. Your ad was a little vague but I would like to audition anyway."
"Alright let me set up an appointment." There was a brief pause as she checked the schedule, I assume. "We can fit you in later this afternoon at one. Is that okay with you?"
"Yes mam, thank you very much, bye."
She hung up and I sighed with relief, I hated talking over the phone if I didn't know who I was talking to. Glancing over at the clock I saw that I had three hours until one. "Alright girl, let's go on a walk."
Closing the door behind me I walked to the park with Daisy. It was sunny out but a little chilly so I put on a warm coat before leaving since I had terrible blood circulation due to my medication.
*back at apartment*
As I walked through the door I realized I shouldn't leave Daisy alone here when I left for my interview. I called the company again and asked if she would mind if I brought my dog and surprisingly she said it was fine. That made me smile because if they were allowing me to bring my dog, they were obviously pretty down to earth.
I quickly hopped into the shower and picked out some nice clothes for the interview. When I was dressed, I applied some makeup to cover up the dark circles under my eyes and the paleness of my skin, a side effect of cancer. Looking at Daisy I decided to brush her so she would look nice too. Her coat was gleaming when I was done.
We walked out to the jeep together and drove off. I had some difficulties locating the place via print out directions but I managed and arrived five minutes before one. Together the two of us walked inside and up to the front desk.
"Hi, my name is Chanelle, how may I help you today?" said the receptionist.
"My name is Marie, we talked on the phone earlier."
"Ahh yes, the girl who wanted to bring her dog, and is this your dog, she's so beautiful and sweet looking!" She smiled brightly at me. "Sit down anywhere you like, I'll let you know when they are ready for you."
"Alright thank you!" I took a seat and glanced around me at the other girls sitting there, they each glanced at Daisy and looked away disgusted that I would bring her in here, I really didn't care though.
"Marie, they are ready for you now." I got up from my seat and gave Chanelle a nod as I walked by and was led down the hallway to meet my, hopefully, new job.
