Chapter 20 (Part-1)

Sonali's Pov

When my migraine attacks had first started to emerge, my doctor had warned me to stay away from anything that annoys me the most. He said it can be triggering for my attacks if something keeps on bothering me for a long duration of time.
Little did I know that "thing" will turn out to be a full grown man. Most of my colleagues and subordinates have been pretty annoying at some point of time in my work experience of 5 years, but no one has been as painful to endure as this man named Niladri Das. If only he wasn't Ruby's relative, I would have shown him by now what I do to such infuriating human beings !

After about an hour of slouching, I finally got up. I had some files to present Pamela with, and have her make a power-point presentation based on the reports. As I was nearing the secretary's cabin, I heard Pamela's voice echoing. I wondered who it could be, because the annoying Neil had already left for home.

At the door, I heard Pamela refer to someone on the other side of the phone as "Sir". I immediately knew who it could be. At this time of the day, only one 'sir' will care enough to call young girls over phone – Mr. Robin Nandy. I know cause it's not the first time he has done that.
If I was asked to name Top Five Suspicious Men, Robin Nandy would be the first one that would come to my mind – followed by Niladri Das..
Omg stop thinking about that scum !

" Yes Sir.... Well I don't see the file here, maybe I'll call you later after I search on other cupboards.... Yes, Sir, sure Sir, how can I help you ? ....Well, Nei- uh, I mean Mr.Das is not here, yeah... Um, he actually, was granted leave by Ma'am.... Yes Sir I can do it. What work do you need help with ?.... Oh, I'm sorry Sir but do I have to pick the bag from your office ?.... I'm sorry Sir but I have to ask for permission from Ma'am to leave.... Sure Sir, I'll let you know.... Yes have a good day Sir, Okay bye."

She put the phone down. I understood by her words that it was indeed Robin. Till now I was listening to her conversation from outside the cabin, I entered as soon as her conversation ended.

"Pamela, can I have a moment ?"

"Yes Ma'am. Sure, shall I come to your cabin ?"

"No, it's alright here. Who were you talking to just now ?"

"Ma'am it was Robin Sir. Actually he wanted to ask for a favour, that's why he called."

"Favour ? What kind of favour did he ask from you ?"

"Um– it's a money delivery request.." She saw my confused face, and hurriedly explained, "... Actually Vicky is ill and has taken a week off, on the other hand, our company has made a deal with 'Sethi Groups of Industries'. Mr. Sethi has requested the advance money to be paid in cash and the later payments can be in cheques. He apparently need the cash for some work or something. He has asked for the money to be sent by someone trustworthy and reliable. Mr. Robin said he would have sent Vicky, but since he's at leave, therefore –"

"– Therefore he asked 'you' to deliver the money ?"

"Um, yes Ma'am. He even asked for Neil first, but I told him he's not available right now, then he asked me to do it. He said and I quote 'After Miss Bose, you're the most trusted person in this Company. Therefore I am relying on you to do this job. I would have gone myself but I've a meeting in 15 minutes and I can't ask Miss Bose too, knowing she already must be knee-deep in work.' But I haven't agreed yet. I thought I should ask you first..."
