-Naomi-

The beds were scattered to different pieces of the island. We all grew apart as we each faded out of view. At first, I thought my bed was just gonna land safely on the ground. That clearly wasn't the case. The anti gravitational pull weakens and I'm plunging to the ground. Well, damn. This is how I die. I braced myself for the impact when I'm suddenly pushed off the bed. Odd, I didn't feel the ground like I expected. Instead, I feel something gripping on my hoodie. I squint my eyes open and I'm only about 3 feet above ground.

"Good grief, toots! You always know how to find trouble, don'tcha?"

The figure dropped me and I turn my head to see my friend. Impmon jumps down from the branch he was standing on with a heroic smirk on his face.

"Ya sure are lucky I was on this side of the island. Or else, you'd en' up in peices like that bed over there."

I let out a shaky chuckle,"y-yeah...you....save me again, Impmon..." I fall silent again before kicking the closest tree to me.

"Hey-ay-ay! Cool it, kid!" The digimon stepped back.

"Well, what do you expect me to do?!" I shout in teary eyes,"Ever since I got here, I've been weak! And vulnerable! And useless! I'm trying to be optimistic, but reality just doesn't work that way!.....I just want..this to be over and go home..."

I cry into my knees in self pity. There was no denying what I said. It was all true. Impmon sat next to me for I don't know why. Before he could say a word, the ground shook. Our heads snapped up seeing a silhouette in the trees. As it came to the light, it looked like a chibi teddy bear. It was cute, if only it didn't have red eyes!

"Impmon, who's that?"

"Chuchidarumon." He answered. "Basically, a chocolate vers'n of Frigimon. Wanna bet he's got a black gear in 'im?"

"I think we both know the answer to that."

Chuchidarumon came running at a surprisingly slow pace. However, when he used his "heavy punch" attack, it shook the ground causing us to fall back.

"'is slow movements was t'be expected, but not doubt 'bout it; he's strong!" Impmon commented,"looks like I gotta fight! Stay back, toots!"

I watched from behind a tree as the two digimon brawled. I began to worry. It's not like I don't have faith in Impmon, I was just scared. He tried using his fire attacks against him (honestly, you'd be surprised of how many attacks he has as a rookie), but they did nothing against Chuchidarumon's mud coat armor. Over all, that just boosted his attacks! He caught Impmon by surprise with a heavy blow. He was now stuck in mud as it was quickly hardening to rock. I didn't know what I was thinking the moment I left my hiding place. I ran as fast as I could to him with a thick branch and did my best to dig him out.

"Naomi, get out of here!" He ordered, but I didn't listen. "Toots, watch out!"

Soon enough, Chuchidarumon picked me up from my torso, away from Impmon. In desperation, I pounded my fists on his grip but couldn't budge. My eyes were flowing like waterfalls from the fear and pity I carried on my shoulders. The digimon hold got tighter and I cried out from the pressure in my ribs. This was it for me....

-Impmon-

As I was being encased by a bunch of dirt, my only friend was about to me crush by that muddy bastard! Naomi let out a blood curdling cry and that was beyond the final straw. I felt a strong urge building up in me and began to grow out the muddy mold. I had digivolved into Wizardmon. I broke free charging at Chuchidarumon. He released the kid just in time as I caught her.

"Imp..mon...?"

I nodded my head,"Wizardmon now. Hang in there, my friend."

Raising my staff, I called upon the stars with a "meteor squall" to weaken his defenses. Luckily, it work like a charm. I finished it off with an "thunder cloud" and destroyed the black gear in him for good. Chuchidarumon shrunk down a bit, returning to his normal size.

"Oh, my! What happened?" Asked a dazed Chuchidarumon.

"You were being controlled by a black gear and you nearly killed an innocent life." I explained.

"I-I did?! Gosh, I'm terribly sorry! You're friend isn't hurt too bad, are they?!"

"N-no, I'm good," Naomi assured. "It honestly felt like the bear hugs my cousins give me."

"Again, I'm very sorry," Chuchidarumon apologized. "I don't want to cause any more trouble. I'll leave you two be."

Chuchidarumon walks back into the forest waving goodbye. We waved back and sat back down by the trees. There was silence between Naomi and I. No one spoke a word. The quiet atmosphere broke like ice when Naomi finally said something.

"So, it was you."

"...yes."

"Then, why didn't you tell me? The moment we met, you didn't say anything."

"I couldn't let them see me, that's why. I'm a virus, a dark type digimon. You think the others would want to see a bright child like you paired with someone like me?"

"Do you honestly think I'd care?" She chuckled,"Wizardmon, you're who I've been looking for. For 4 years, in fact! The day you disappeared, I never stopped looking for you. Before anyone else, you were my best friend. Hell, I practically raised you!"

I let out a laugh,"remember all the trouble I put you through?"

"Ugh, you were beyond a handful! It took me a fast second to realize you weren't just an imaginary friend."

"I'll bet! You were pretty patient with me, for a six year-old."

"Whatever!"

I fiddled with the crest in my hand. Should I give it to her now? I thought about it for a moment until I felt Naomi's head resting on my arm. It was still night time and she probably didn't get much sleep. I'll let her rest. Besides, it wasn't time to give the necklace to her yet. By morning, we'll head out to look for her friends. I wasn't completely on board but, it's what I have to face for the sake of our world and for my partner......
