-Shase's POV-

My fingers smoothly glide across the keys as I play Tears Don't Fall by Bullet For My Valentine. I finish the mesmerizing tune and stand, bowing to the audience. I smile as I look out to the crowd. Some are staring in shock and others are clapping.

When I walk off the stage the applause is louder than any performance before mine.

I get a small smile from my music teacher. "Just as expected. Good job Mr. Masamune."

"Thanks."

I stand with Jesse as Kyle makes his way onto the stage after the other schools' violinists perform.

The audience is mesmerized by Kyle's performance as well as he plays his favorite song Two Black Cadillac's by Carrie Underwood. The beautiful sound of the Violin warms my heart. I should have learned to play that instead of the piano.

When the whole thing is over, we get our prize money and award planks for our performances.

"I am pleased to announce that the three participants from Caneforth High School have placed first in the three chosen instruments of the year. First place in piano is Kagami Masamune. In violin, first place goes to Kyle Smith. And finally in first place for the Flute, Jesse Cunningham. They will be given the first prize award of 500 dollars and a trophy for their participation."

We are given the awards and all head to the dining hall for dinner with all the other participants and their families who came to support them.

I already got my food and am sitting at a large table with Kyle and his family, Jesse and her family, and Mrs. Petitt.

Freddy makes his way over and plops down in the seat next to me. "Sorry, I'm so late. There was a lot of food to choose from," he says shoving something in his mouth.

I chuckle, "Did you not eat today?"

"No, I did. It's just that I can't say no to certain foods. And I like to eat a lot."

"Aren't you worried about losing physique? Swimming starts up again in a couple months."

He shakes his head, "Not really. Maybe I'll just sit on the sidelines and watch my boyfriend instead." He smirks at me with his mouth full of food.

"Eww! That's so gross! Keep your mouth closed when you have food in there!" I whine.

He smiles wide while trying to keep the food in his mouth

I scrunch my nose in disgust and throw a napkin at his face making him laugh. I start pouting and hear other giggles and chuckles around me. I look around the table and everyone is watching us with smiles plastered on their faces. My face heats up in embarrassment. I can't believe I just did that in the open, in front of people. I could die right now. I ignore their teasing and finish my vegetarian pasta. I mumble a quick excuse and leave to the restroom to wash my hands. I dry my hands and check my appearance for the photos they have after the dinner.

We have to take photos as the winners then everyone together as participants.

Just as I'm buttoning up my sleeves around my wrists, I am shoved into a wall and am pinned between two muscular arms.

"You're too pretty for a scar like that. How'd that happen?"

My eyes snap up to meet the hazel orbs of the person I fear most in the world.

"K-Kel-sy?" I choke out. I can feel the burn in the back of my eyes and the tears running down my cheeks.

He smiles down at me. "I'm surprised you remembered me. It's been a long time since I saw your pretty, little face Kagami. You've grown so much since then." He gently runs a finger along my jaw and tips my chin upwards.

"P-Please, Kelsy. D-Don't."

"Don't what?" He leans closer. "Don't you miss me as much as I missed you? You're sixteen now right? You should just forget about the past and give me another chance," he says with a smirk.

"W-Why are you h-here?" My voice is so shaky. "A-Aren't you supposed to b-be in j-juvi?"

He leans in close enough to where our faces are inches apart. "Prison," he corrects, "but I got out early so I could be with you. I only had a few months left of my sentence anyways. You missed me, didn't you?" He asks inching closer.

I would turn from him, but my body is frozen on the spot. He shouldn't be here. He shouldn't know what I look like now. How did he know I was here? Why hasn't anybody come in here? Somebody, please come to the restroom.

"I have to get going, but I'll see you later, Gami. Maybe I'll come over to your house later this week."

He places a lingering kiss on the corner of my mouth then leaves.

As soon as the door closes, I fall down the wall and sob into my knees.

Someone comes into the rest room.

"Shase? Are you okay? What's wrong? What happened?"

I just cry, not answering him. I suddenly feel hands rubbing my arms in a soothing manner.

"Can you tell me what's wrong?" He asks.

I shake my head.

"Okay. I understand. I won't bud into your business, but I'll help you through it. No matter what it is."

I can't tell him. I'll never be able to face him again. I'll never be able to talk to anyone ever again. It's too horrible.

"It'll be okay."

At those small words, I wrap my arms around his neck and sob into his shoulder. His arms wrap around my waist gently and he repeats those words in small whispers into my ear like he knows those are the words I needed to hear. I don't how long it was, but I fell asleep, exhausted from all of the crying. I'd wake up a little when I was lifted onto the bus then into a car, but I just couldn't fully wake up. My body wouldn't let me. I'm lifted one last time then am set on a soft comfortable surface.

Something soft presses to my forehead then disappears seconds later.

* * * * * *

"Shase, wake up.You'll be late for school."

I bolt up from the last sentence and head butt my father. We both cringe in pain and rub our foreheads.

He smiles down at me, "Is that the only thing that wakes you up? I offered food about ten times and that didn't even wake you. I said bacon about five times and you didn't even twitch."

"Sorry. Can you get out? I have to get ready for school," I say groggily, now with a headache.

He chuckles and shakes his head at me. "It's Saturday. You don't have school."

I flop back and groan in annoyance. I grab one of my extra pillows and throw it at him, but he retaliates by throwing it back at me.

"Get up. I'm taking you shopping."

"For what?" I whine.

"Whatever I want. I'm bored. Your mom and sister left for their bonding weekend a while ago, so now we can have our bonding weekend. Just get up before I drag your ass out of bed." He rips my blanket off and leaves, carrying it over his shoulder. "Hurry up!"

I groan again then slowly get out of bed and make my way to the shower. I dress quickly and run downstairs when I hear my dad call my name. We leave to wherever he wants. I just hope this doesn't take too long. I want to get more sleep. I've been crying a lot during the night this past week. It's too tiring.
