A Whole New World (We finally made it)

Japan was way different from America. For starters, they drive on the left side of the road. We quickly figured that out when my dad took the rental car out of the parking lot and onto the streets. My parents decided to rent a car rather than taking a cab home because they needed a way to get to work and we weren't going to live super close to the train station, and the agency wasn't close to one either. Another thing that was a big change would be the school uniforms my mom told us about. Sam and I went to public school in America and they didn't require us to wear a uniform. Personally I liked the idea of a uniform because I wouldn't have to pick out my clothes each morning, and it would give people less reasons to make fun of me. Sam on the other hand absolutely hated them. He said "it took away his freedom." Needless to say, that didn't go over to well with my mom.
Frankly there wasn't as much of a language barrier as I was expecting. A lot of people spoke at least some English, and I was lucky enough to have learned some Japanese at school. I had never been more thankful for Scarlet convincing me to take that class with her in my life.
The food was good and unlike the people where I grew up, the people here minded their own business and were for the most part, pleasant to deal with. For the first time in my life I was actually excited for school. I was to stay home and rest, while my parents took Sam to his middle school to get his uniform and get him situated with classes. After they got back, my mom would then leave with me to go visit  UA.
I soon found out that instead of riding a bus to school or with my mom, I would walk to the train station, which was about a mile, and then ride the train for about 15 minutes before getting off and then walking for about another mile to UA. Walking two miles is much better than the five mile walk from our old house to that school that I had to take once in the rain because I accidentally missed the bus (my parents were about as happy about that as I was).
Once we got to UA, the principal, Principal Nezu, introduced himself to us. He seemed to be a combination of a mouse and a bear, but overall, he was pleasant. He told me that I was an odd exception because they rarely accept students into the hero course in the middle of the year, who aren't from other hero courses, but they allowed me in based on my situation, grades and I showed that I had potential by saving the little girl.
"Well miss Moran, are you ready to see the school?" Principal Nezu said. I nodded and our tour of UA began. We started the tour by looking at the cafeteria. It was called Lunch Rush and it had food that smelled really good. Then we walked around the halls looking at different rooms and for the most part it looked like a regular old high school with a few more training facilities. Finally, we came across a room called 1-A.
"This is your homeroom class. Your teacher is Mr. Aizawa, but you may know him by his pro hero name, Eraser Head."
I peeked inside the classroom and saw a bunch of students. Some students stuck out more than others. I mean there was a kid with a bird head and a kid with a tail. They were pretty hard to miss. Also the teacher was in a sleeping bag, and that was pretty odd. After we saw the classroom, we went out to see the dorms.
"For the safety of our students, we mandate that you stay in the dorms on campus. It will give you a chance to form friendships with your classmates as well as staying out of the reach of villains. But dont worry, you can still go home over breaks and you can leave campus to visit family and shop. You can move your stuff in tomorrow during your first day," Nezu told us.
After we toured the campus and got my uniforms, we went back home.
"Whoop dee doo, I don't even get settled in and I have to move again," I sarcastically told my mom.
"I'm sure everything will be fine. And this just gives you some extra space from all our drama, so hopefully this will help you get better control over your quirks. Also you saw that class, everyone was unique, so you'll fit in just fine," she assured me as we walked to the house.
"Oh yeah. I'm sure plain looking ole me is gonna fit in great with students who have bird heads, tails, pink skin and extra arms."
"There were some plain looking students there too."
"I know but what if their quirks are all amazing and they know how to use them and then you just have clumsy me who will send silverware flying across the room. The point is, what if I'm not good enough?" I said to her as we were walking in the house.
"Don't worry. I have faith in you," she smiled.
For once in my life my dad had dinner ready. It was only pizza but it was still good. We sat around the table talking about our days.
"So Sam, what did you think of your school?" I asked.
"It was alright I guess. It's school, I'm not sure what you want me to say. All these kids seem weird, and they don't have a track team so that sucks," Sam replied.
"And Alex, what did you think of UA?" my dad asked.
"Umm it seems pretty cool I guess. The principal was a mouse or a bear or, well I'm not sure what he is but he was nice. And my homeroom teacher looked like he hadn't slept in weeks and was laying on the floor in a yellow sleeping bag. As far as the other students go they're unique too. I guess it's their quirks."
"So it sounds like you had a nice time," my dad said.
"Well not exactly, UA makes its students live in dorms on the campus so tonight's my first and last night here for awhile. Tomorrow morning I have to move my stuff to the dorm before class."
"Well it looks like you might want to get rested up. We've had a long day today, and it sounds like your going to have a long one tomorrow too," my dad told me.
Dad was right, today was a long day and tomorrow was going to be long too. I decided that after dinner I was going to pack some stuff to take to UA, and shower before turning in for the night.
