Professor McGonagall gasped and her eyes widened. Not much surprised her, but this truly was a shock.
"As in Severus Snape, your potions Professor?" McGonagall asked. Severus Snape was like a son to her. And Hermione, a daughter. She couldn't fathom the two together.
"Yes Professor, that's the one," Hermione replied.
"Are you sure?" McGonagall asked again.
Hermione nodded. "It would make sense. Today in potions, we brewed Amortenia. To me, it smelled like various potions ingredients and strongly of coconut. He uses coconut shampoo. I'm sure of it! That's what I smelled when I tried to heal him during the war!" By this time Hermione was very excited.
"Ms. Granger, are you aware that a teacher-student relationship is against the rules? Besides, I don't think Severus has fancied anyone since before Lily rejected him. You might have to try hard to win him over," McGonagall encouraged.
Hermione's heart soared at her Mentor's encouragement.
"You really think so?" She asked.
"I do," Professor McGonagall replied.
"But the rules-" Hermione started.
"Nonsense. I believe the headmistress, has power to change school rules," Minerva responded, winking.
"Thank you!" Hermione exclaimed in gratitude. "I best be getting to lunch now, Professor."
Minerva McGonagall nodded. " Are we still on for tea this Saturday?" She asked.
The girl nodded. "I wouldn't miss it for the world!" She exclaimed.
Hermione then grabbed her school bag and ran off to the Great Hall for lunch.
"Sorry I'm late," she apologized to her friends.
" Where were you?" Ron asked.
"I was finalizing my Saturday plans for tea with Professor McGonagall," Hermione replied.
"So what's the smile and the good mood about Mione?" Harry asked.
"Can't a girl be in a good mood?" Hermione asked.
"No, usually not," Ron says while taking a bite of his chicken wing.
Hermione swats him with a newspaper.
"Ronald Billius Weasley! I bet you still wonder why I broke up with you don't you?" Hermione asks sighing.
She couldn't help the stupidity of her friends. That's why she wanted Snape. She was surprised he was still single. Who couldn't love such a smart, handsome man like Severus Snape?
Professor McGonagall had already approved, and that meant everything to her. Now all she had to do, was get the guy.
Severus Snape sat at the staff table eating his lunch. All through the previous parts of lunch, Hermione and Minerva had been giving each other odd looks, and so far, Minerva McGonagall had refused to look at him. Hel looked back to Hermione. This time she met his gaze. He felt his face soften. He had always felt find of her, being she was pretty much the only student at Hogwarts that wasn't a dunderhead.
He was startled out of his thoughts by McGonagall asking him a question.
"Severus, did you hear me? I asked you if you wanted to join me for tea on Saturday at ten? Would that work for you?" The witch asked.
Severus nods, and goes back to eating, the look Hermione gave him earlier still in his thoughts.
He was pretty sure it confirmed one thing. That what he thought earlier in his second potions class of the day was true.
Hermione Granger was in love with him.
And he couldn't help but like her back.
