Midoriya woke up from a gentle shake. He looked up, his vision blurry for a moment until it came clear.

The teen looked up at the other in front of him. "A-All Might?"
"Hey, you finally woke up, sleepyhead," the man chuckled. "How are you feeling? Are you still not feeling well?"

Midoriya choked on his words for a moment. He had completely forgotten that he made that excuse from earlier.

"Y-yeah, I-I feel a lot better, actually," the boy responded and got up slowly, rubbing his eyes.
"You missed all your classes today. I assume you must've had been running a fever or something but I checked your temperature and it was normal."

Shit, how was he supposed to respond to that?

"Young Midoriya," Toshinori said. The boy looked up at the hero again.

"Your friends have told me you haven't been acting like your normal self. They said you won't talk to anyone. A-are you alright? They assume it was because of my retirement."

Midoriya frowned. Of course, his friends would tell All Might this. He averted his eyes from the older man and scoffed. "It's not because of your retirement," he mumbled. "It's just...personal things..." he whispered the last part. Toshinori couldn't hear what he had said. "What?"
"Nothing..." Midoriya responded back to another mumble.

"So it's not because of my retirement, correct? I believe that's what you said."
Midoriya nodded.
"Then what's wrong?"

The boy sighed. "I-it's nothing..."
"Young Midoriya-"
"I said it's nothing,"
"Well, it has to be something, your classmates have been worried-"
"Why are you so pushy about this!"

It went dead silent. Tears filled the greenette's eyes, pouring down his freckled cheeks as he sat there in silence on his bed. Toshinori frowned with deep concern growing onto him.

"Young Midoriya, I-"
"Agh! It's just so hard!" The boy choked on a sob. He quickly wiped away his tears with his palm. Toshinori stared confused, still with a bit of concern as well. "I-I don't understand! W-why d-did it have to b-be him!?"

The greenette fell limp into the other's arms. Toshinori accepted the embrace. Who was this him he was talking about? Who could it be exactly?

"Young Midoriya," Toshinori began. His tone was so soft and calming, it caught the boy's attention. "As your caretaker, I want you to explain this to me...please."

The boy took a deep breath in and sniffled his stuffed nose.

He took another deep breath and let out a shaky breath.

"It's about my dad."
