Cody woke up panting, her eyes wet and beads of sweat trickling down her forehead. It was just a dream, she reminded herself, just a bad dream. But it wasn't. It had already happened. Not a dream, but a memory. A memory that would haunt her in her sleep, a memory that would attack Cody every time she let her guard down. She could still hear and see the flashing red eyes of the robots chasing her mother down the street. For the first time, her mother's eyes weren't full of joy, but of fear, fear of death. The robots chased her in public, and Cody was right there, scared, standing behind her father, who was strangely expressionless. Finally, cornered her at the tea shop and shot her. The way she fell was angel like. It was peaceful but so full of sadness. Cody ran over to her and cradled her for so long that the sun had set and her father had left. Cody was 10. Now, 7 years later, 2047, she still didn't know why the robots chased her, why no one stopped the robots, not even her father, who stood there, watching everything unfold in front of his eyes. Lastly, the thing she hated the most was the way the crowd had heard her screams but just stood, watching it like a film. And when it was over, they left. Because whoever watches the credits?
