*THIS CHAPTER MAY BE A BIT VIOLENT FOR SOME***
Cody slowly circled her father who did the same to her. She would make the first move. She didn't have the heart to shoot him. Cody hoped that she could get the modifier without anyone getting hurt. Her mind said otherwise, flashing back to Rena's screams and her mother's tears. Cody gritted her teeth, surprising her anger. Her father didn't show any emotion, glazed cold eyes stared back at her. She couldn't wait here all day. Almost doing a split, she kicked her father's hand and the tube fell. Cody stretched out her hand, the tube landing right on her palm. She clasped it shut, holding on tight. Her father shot his gun, a laser beam shattering a window in some astray direction. He growled and shot at her one, two, three times. The heat tingled Cody's skin as she dodged all three times. She rolled on the floor. Her palms were growing clammier and sweatier by the minutes, her grip was loosening on the tube. Her father didn't hesitate taking advantage as he shot at her once more. She rolled to the side and swiftly pulled out her gun and shot at his feet, causing him to stumble backward, giving time to Cody to get back on her feet. Cody lifted her hand, ready to smash the the tube into pieces, just when she felt a push and crashed into the wall.
Pain spread through her like wildfire. She groaned, and Cody was sure she had left a dent.
She forced herself to open her eyes, and wasn't surprised to see Leo's hands outstretched. She snickered. Even though it hurt.
"So this is what I get for introducing you to French toast. I am hurt," Cody mumbled under her breath as she brushed the cement dust off her and got up. Just when she began to think that she was slightly overpowered, Cody heard someone reload a gun. Her eyes darted to the doorway, and she had never been so relieved to see Alexis. Her favourite cyborg. The best personal assistant. Suddenly, her senses returned when she realised that the gun was pointed at Leo.
"NO, Alexis, WAIT!" Cody screeched.
Alexis lowered her gun instantly with a questioning look in her eyes.
"Alexis, no. She's mind controlled. She's been injected. Leo is a human being. Just keep her distracted. Maybe knock her unconscious," Cody directed with a twinge of guilt poking her in the chest. She nodded and then realised that the tube had rolled to the center of the room. Cody inwardly groaned. That stupid tube.
She looked at her father who hungrily glared at the tube. Cody dove for tube but her father got to it first. She threw a punch at him, and tube fell. What a weak, old man, Cody thought. She snatched the tube but was kicked in the back. She fell, and her head suddenly felt fuzzy. She turned around and shot her gun twice. One missed by a couple of inches but the other shot Cody's father right in the arm, staining his white lab coat with blotches of red. Tears clouded her eyes. She whispered the word, "Sorry," and threw the tube, as shattered glass sprayed across the lab, and her eyes dropped and she fell asleep.
