a friendship forgotten

Starting as a child,

A friendship so strong.

They knew from that day on,

They'd be best friends 'till the end.

There would be smiles and laughter for years to come,

Different cultures intertwined.

Friendship would only get stronger,

As the blossoms grew older and older.

Then struggles came and no more smiles,

Fights and cries and broken hearts.

Hardships and hatred grew,

And different paths were taken.

Many years went by,

And a want for that friendship grew.

One sits on her swing and thinks of old times,

As the other ponders from her window.

They wonder what could have happened,

If they never fought or cried.

But laughed and played all the days,

That they had spent apart.

Still only a few feet lay between a rekindled friendship,

And times could be forgotten of sadness and sorrows.
Friends 'till the end they said,

Now just distant neighbors.

No late night talks until 2 AM,

Just a friendship forgotten between them.
