And here it came. The first day of sophomore. She never thought that she could do it, but she did survive the last year. She already got her schedule when her best and only friend Eve was walking towards her.

While Eve was walking, she was also trying to read a book. It seemed idiotic and she almost caused some girl to drop her coffee. But Eve was a selfish fuck. Once in every three seconds, she was lifting her head to check where she was going. She also smiled to y/n to show her she was coming to greet her.

Y/n smiled back to Eve. She was a bit weird and y/n liked that weirdness of Eve. She was acting as how she felt.

When she finally arrived, she could close the book and hugged her with one arm. Y/n hugged Eve too, with two arms, firmly.

"Hey! Your boobs have gotten a lot bigger since the last time we saw each other."

As soon as Eve finished her sentence. Y/n blushed. "Really?" she whispered excitedly, scared that someone would hear them.

"Yes! They look wonderful!" she said while putting the book back in her bag. "So, would you like me to escort you to your first class?"

"Yeah, I'd love that, but wouldn't you be late? What's yours?"

"Not a problem. Mr. Kerrigan would never get angry with me." She pulled y/n's arm so they could start walking.

"Soo we're at the same class." Y/n laughed. "How was your holiday?" she asked her friend as they walked to the classroom, already guessing the answer.

Eve sighed. "You know how Asian elders are like. My grandparents don't let me go off the line, not even an inch." She stopped for a moment like she was thinking about something else. Then asked:

"Do I look decent today?"

"Oh! Yes!" said y/n through her smile. "You look great, as always." She was a bit confused by the question but whatever.

"No, not like that. I mean like in the books. When the boy sees a girl and cannot forget about her. Even if she is not that beautiful, there is something catching about her."

"Y-yeah..." she said, not wanting to hurt her friend.

She never believed that something like that could happen. She would want that too much, but it just seemed too unreal to her.

When they arrived in the classroom, the class had already started.

"Where were you, young ladies?" Mr. Kerrigan questioned them.

"We are sorry Mr. Kerrigan. We were talking about the book we read last week: Of Mice and Men. It was truly great, as cruel as Christopher Marlowe's work but as real as life itself. So that's why we didn't notice the time floating." She bit her lip and looked at her teacher's face like a puppy.

"Okay, okay. Go in your places," said teacher and watched the girls did as he said. He was a young man, maybe in his middle twenties. He was a good teacher, but his look was definitely better than his teaching skills.

"Open your books. Page 52."

Eve winked at y/n without anyone noticing. She looked at the seats to find somewhere they can sit together. She quickly sat and take her book out.

Of course, she had already read the first 20 pages. Because she knew it would be hard to focus, as she would be thinking about Mr. Kerrigan's warm brown eyes.

Y/n did like literature, but she could not bring herself to read 30 pages now. So, she started to doodle some figures on her book. She did not know why but she just had a bad feeling about today. Maybe it was because today was the first day of the year? It was possible.
