season 2, episode 10
"Hit the Road, Jodeci!" PT. 1
·
Dalvin and K-Ci had been playing a hand game for a good five minutes. Both of the two had bright red palms, but they weren't giving up that easy.
"Y'all not done playing this game yet?" JoJo asked approaching the two.
"No! Whoever loses has to give up fifty dollars!" K-Ci spoke while still keeping his focus on the game.
DeVante decided to mess up their train of thought. "Whitney Houston is walking down the hall!"
Dalvin and K-Ci immediately stopped playing their game and looked every which way for Whitney. "Where??"
JoJo and DeVante shared a laugh before dapping each other up. "Why would Whitney Houston be at our school?" Joel questioned. "Pay up that money!"
Dalvin and K-Ci sighed and rolled their eyes but gave their money to their brothers nevertheless.
·
Tanai, who held a manilla envelope in her hand and a bright smile on her face, ran up to the group of boys excitedly.
"What you so happy for?" K-Ci asked her, leaning against his locker.
"I sent in an audition tape of me singing for this Performing Arts School in New York and I got in!!" Tanai beamed happily.
"Congrats Nai!" Dalvin congratulated her. "We're proud of you Nai," DeVante hugged her. "You deserve it." He kissed her temple, making her smile grow wider.
"Thankyou! Y'all have talent too! Send in an audition!" Tanai said before walking off.
DeVante thought for a minute. "We should audition! With my production skills, K and Jo's singing, and Dalvin's presence, we could really be somethin'!"
"I'm down if y'all down." K-Ci told the three.
DeVante smiled. "Then its settled. We'll send in an audition."
·
The four boys sat around in the DeGrate's basement after school. They had got the school information from Tanai during lunch and were about to start their audition.
"Is the camera on?" Dalvin asked. "Yeah, we can start now." DeVante answered, backing away from the camera.
K-Ci smiled and stepped up front, "I'm K-Ci and this is Jodec-"
JoJo pushed him back. "We're all in Jodeci, thats what the name of our group is called. My name is JoJo and K-Ci already introduced himself,"
Dalvin stood there not paying any attention, before K-Ci nudged him, snapping him out of his thoughts. "I'm Dalvin!"
"And I'm DeVante, I wrote and produced this song, entitled "I'm Still Waiting', in which we're gonna perform for you. We hope you enjoy." DeVante finished off.
Once the group was done singing the song, DeVante turned the camera off.
"Once they hear my vocals, we're in fasho." K-Ci cockily stated, earning glares from the other three young men in the room.
·
Around two weeks later, Dalvin entered the basement and slammed the backdoor behind him. He held up an envelope, "This letter came in the mail! Its from the NYC Performing Arts School!"
"What are you standin' there for? Open it!" JoJo urged as he, K-Ci, and DeVante gathered around the young boy.
"I'm nervous!" Dalvin said, gaining a smack on the neck from K-Ci, who then snatched the envelope from him. He tried to open the envelope, but was struggling.
JoJo mugged his brother before snatching the envelope out of his hands. He opened it, and a letter flew to the ground. DeVante picked it up and started reading it.
"What does it say, De?" Dalvin asked, placing his hands on DeVante's shoulders.
"We thank you for sending your audition tape in, we loved every second of it and would like to tell you boys how talented you are. We are very proud to tell you that the four of you have been accepted into our school and will be welcomed once you step foot in the fall when the new school year starts. Congratulations." DeVante read. "We got in," He smiled. "We got in!"
Dalvin started jumping up and down. He pulled K-Ci and JoJo into a hug, and DeVante joined shortly after.
