"Team's ready to go" announced Diggle from beside him

"Move 'em" ordered Oliver. A few seconds later, the men entered the building, which meant that it was now his turn

"Ready? Move" he ordered again, going through the door with his bow at the ready. Once at a door on the inside, he stopped, checking that the others were there with him. This squad, he had assembled it himself from recruits, except for Diggle, Slade and Nyssa.

"Night vision on" he instructed, placing his own googles one. "Ready?" this time he waited for a nod from each of them, wanting to make sure they had the best chances of coming back alive. "Go"

The instant he kicked down the door, Rene and Dinah were through with their guns at the ready. "Don't move" he shouted over their head

Almost immediately, they were greeted by the panicked shouts of the house's occupants. They had been debriefed that civilians might have sought refuge in the compounds after Cadmus' attack on Metropolis, but they would have to make sure they were in fact civilians and not anti-aliens terrorists in disguise.

"Three civilians!" announced Black Canary

"Check 'em" he ordered, getting pass them, with Spartan on his heels, further in the building.

"Woman and a child" he announced, waiting for Mr. Terrific and Ragman to come to check them. Once they were there, he and his partner continued further, pushing past some heavy fabrics that had been hung.

"Three children, three children!" he announced again, having to wait only for a second before Deathstroke and Al Ghul came to verify them. As extreme as it might seem, Oliver wouldn't repeat the incident of their previous intervention, where he had lost his sister's father, Malcolm Merlyn aka the Dark Archer, and a girl he had adopted as his daughter, Evelyn Sharp aka Artemis when a child had been sent their way with a wired vest by his father. He had no time to react and only could look from behind a window as they transformed into charred meat.

And even if he couldn't concentrate on that right now, he couldn't help but feel guilty. Prior to meeting them, they wouldn't have hesitated to kill the child, for that were in enemy territory. Instead, Evelyn had hugged the child to try to reassure her while Malcolm had tried to calm the parents. And now, all 5 of these people, were dead.

"Arrow!" Spartan snapped him out of it. When Oliver looked at him, he recognized the look in his brother's eyes as his soldier mode. The Green Arrow took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a second. When he opened them, he nodded curtly to his partner and marched on. He would have to grieve but now was not the time. They had Cadmus surprised, and they couldn't risk Lilian Luthor escaping once again. She was going down tonight, whether it was to go into prison, or by one of his arrows to the head.

They emerged into a dark, empty corridor. As they marched on, they heard heavy breathing approaching. "Shit" he muttered, drawing his bow

"Over here" he heard suddenly from an adjacent doorway,  before an auburn-haired woman, came out of it, an assault rifle in her hand

However, she seemed to recognize them and lowered her rifle, Oliver lowering his bow. "Guardian" she called

"Right here" came a man in heavy metal-looking armor, a shield of all thing on his arm

"We're bumping heads with Star City's reinforcement. Get on touch with Oracle before somebody hurt somebody"

"On it Wolf"

"Wolf? How did you guys-" Oliver started to ask, before Guardian, who had gone a few feets away to talk to their tech support, was shot down.

The woman ran to the vigilante and Oliver went to cover her. He shot one of the three gunmen he saw, hearing someone yell "Get down! Get on the floor!"

"We're under fire! Come on!" yelled Spartan, probably urging others to come to their aid

"I got a man down! Need Doc Snow! First-floor corridor."

"Hey! Green Arrow! Secure the hallway!" she ordered.

Not caring about her rank, Oliver continued to shoot as he ordered his men "Move!"

"Move, move, move!" repeated Spartan as Oliver ran to him, only to turn around when he realized that the woman hadn't followed him

"Talk to me, Guardian! It's Black Wolf! We're going to get you out of here!" she was saying, trying to stop the blood flow.

Unfortunately, agents dropped from traps in the roof and started shooting. Before Oliver could do anything, the one that had been called the Black Wolf was riddled with bullets, the clawed brass knuckles on her belt clinging when she hit the ground.

"Spartan! With me!" called Oliver as he took cover behind a corner, nocking an arrow. Diggle did indeed arrive from the other side of the corridor's entrance, nodding to him that he was ready.

"Ready? Go!" ordered the Green Arrow, swiftly turning around the corner and letting loose of the explosive arrow he had nocked. One of the gunmen received it square in the chest, the second one shot down by Spartan before he could receive what was left of his comrade in the face.

As others arrived, Oliver and Diggle soon found themself with 20 vigilantes and heroes behind them as they took down everyone that dared stand in their way. Lilian Luthor included.
