"Oliver?" Kara called from the entrance of the barn

"Yes?" the man answered, dropping on the floor from the overhead platform, startling his employer "Sorry"

Kara playfully rolled her eyes, the cheeky smirk the man wore hinting to her that he probably didn't completely mean that apology "We're going out. We'll back shortly"

"Okay. I'll keep guard" he winked, walking past her toward the cages.

Kara shook her head, probably unaware that a stupid smile was plastered on her face

About thirty minutes later, as he was pouring water in a dog's bowl, Oliver heard a car roll in the driveway. When looked up, he was even more intrigued to see that it was a police car.

"Well, have they finally figured out what was right in front of them?" Oliver wondered as he closed the fence's gate 'If so, they really haven't sent the right people'

And even though he felt like giving himself a slap of the wrist for looking down on the officer, his first thoughts were confirmed when he saw the law enforcer walk through the door.

While his eyes told for at least a few horrors they had seen, the rest of the man didn't exactly scream 'I am here to serve and protect'. While his uniform was on point, the general demeanour of the officer spoke more of a big-headed,  more-then-probably-overconfident jerk.

"Can I help you?" Oliver asked

"The hell you doing around here?" the officer asked as if he owned the place

"Is there a problem, officer?"

The man seemed very surprised by the question "There will be if you don't answer my questions when I ask 'em"

"Huh... I work here."

The guy scoffed and stepped forward "Put your hands on that bench." he ordered, jerking his head toward a table

"Why?" Oliver asked, trying his best to refrain from his growing envy to punch that guy nose flat

"Man, you want to do this at the station?" jerk-face said, stepping even closer to Oliver, a distance that would normally have earned him the punch Oliver so wanted to give him right now.

Oliver held the officer's stare for a second before deciding that the peace he had found here was worth more than the satisfaction of smashing his face. He complied and stepped toward the table, biting his lips when the guy pushed him toward it. He let him search for his wallet.

"Oliver Queen? The Oliver Queen? What's a billionaire doing here?"

"Yes, Oliver Queen. And I'm not a billionaire anymore."

"Hmmm. Spent all your cash on girls and cars?" the officer sighed and paced "Well, where's everyone at, ex-billionaire?"

"They went out." Oliver said, straightening up "Do you want me to give Kara a message?"

That seemed to trigger something, as the man swiftly turned around "Oh-oh. So it's Kara, is it? No, ma'am or miss Danvers?"

Oliver didn't satisfy him with an answer

"You just tell Kara I'll see her at 4:00." the officer sighed, throwing Oliver's wallet on the table. He walked out without another word, leaving Oliver to give himself a pat on the shoulder for not punching him to a pulp.
