A week later, after a day at the kennel, Oliver arrived at his house with its owner, the old man's pick-up fully loaded with tools, lumbers and other materials.
"Thank you for the tools sir," Oliver asked as he got out of the cabin
"It's me that must thank you for fixing that shed!" the man laughed "I never have the time with the fishing and all. It was a shame to see it rot away without being able to do anything"
"What are you going to do with it once it's fixed?"
"Rent it! First to you, for as long as you want it, then to others."
"Have you heard about RBNB?"
"What's that?"
"It's an application that allows you to rent your house like a hotel. People go on it, reserve for a night, or more, and they pay you with their credit card."
"Nah, I've never understood that crap."
"I could do it for you if you want? I mean, from what I understood, you have more than just this one. As you said, with a little love and care, they could give you a lot"
"Yeah?" the old man said as he contemplated the idea "I mean, why not. But I don't have enough to pay you full-time to do it. Not yet anyway."
"That's fine sir, I already found work. I could do this on the weekends"
"Well, if you're interested, I don't see why not. We'll talk about it when I come back from my next fishing trip. I sail tomorrow and will only be back in a month."
"Sure. You know where I live" Oliver smiled
Once they had fully unloaded the truck, the owner bid him farewell and left Oliver to eat the take-out they had picked up on the way.
After throwing one of his chicken bones to Zeus, Oliver went to take a second bite when his phone suddenly rang. Cursing, Oliver quickly set his food down and took out his phone, frowning when he didn't recognize the number
"Hello"
"Hey man, it's Dean."
"Hey, what's up?"
"Well, we just finished in New Orlean and we were wondering if you wanted a ride home to Star City?"
"Nah, I'll be fine. I've actually started settling down here. I even got my own house."
"Damn, buying a house after only one week there. You got smitten with a girl or something"
"Something like that. But I didn't buy the house. I'm renting it. As the owner said, it needs a little loving care, but after some work, I think I'll have something comfortable here. I'm actually starting working on it as soon as I'm finished with my diner"
"Want some help with that?"
"Since when are the two of you construction workers?"
"Since when are you?"
"Good point" Oliver admitted with a chuckle "But if you're still around, you sure can stop by and lend a hand. You could sleep here afterward if you want. I know it's not as comfy as some of your beloved motels, but with some inflated mattresses and a good sleeping bag, it wouldn't be so bad I think."
"Wait a sec, I'll ask Sam," said Dean, his voice suddenly becoming distant as he asked Sam, who was probably driving "Sure. We'll stop by. We just grabbed something to eat anyway. Text the address to this number and we'll be by soon"
Dean and Sam did indeed arrive not long after, the Impala's purr filling the silence that Oliver had enjoyed until now. Zeus immediately got up and ran to meet the Winchester.
