Our Version of Parenting

A Nervous Wreck

So today is the day we call and tell everyone, except our friends. We are gonna tell them in person, now that we are back in South Korea every one has been more busy. Most of them have jobs, some of which started restaurants and whole companies. So we decided to tell them in person. So, my family is first and I'm so nervous my palms are sweeting.

I don't know how my mom will react to me getting a girl pregnant before marriage. I don't know how any of my family will react, I don't know how her family will react either and that's the problem. I haven't met her family yet and it's been 6 years, and now Brielle is pregnant! I have no idea how anyone will react but I'm most scared for our families.

We go in order of who would be the most supportive of the baby. We call up my dad first, and he's supportive, that's good. Next is my sister, she likes the idea of a little one of me or Bri running around the house. And finally my mom, she sounded unsure but she did warm up to the idea of another one of her son and/or her daughter in law.

This baby gives me even more reason to propose to her, she's the love of my life. She was my first actual genuine love, and I get to marry her and make her mine. I love her so much, and I know that this baby will only bring us closer. I want to know if our baby is our daughter or our son already but I can't exactly find that out yet. The baby isn't developed enough for that.

Soon we call her parents after about an hour nap. She smiled at me and called her father, he loved the idea of a baby, but he wanted to meet me soon. We went through the rest of her family and they had some doubts in her parenting skills, but they where supportive nonetheless. We decided to have lunch at Kim and Jaemin's restaurant and that's how we would tell them.

So telling Lydia and Jisung would be easier over lunch.We get to the restaurant and they greet us with a smile, Jaemin asks Us if we want anything to drink , I mean turning down alcohol is a great way to tell them. Renjun was at Jam's office of lunch, as always and we would tell them over dinner. We all got drinks and usually Bri gets a alcoholic drink but that's not happening for a while.

Lydia raised her eyebrow at Bri and smirked. "Was I right, judging by your drink choice I am. So tell me Bri, was I?" Bri smiled and replied with a simple nod of the head. "So when is your due date?" Jisung looked confused. "I don't know, I haven't seen the doctor about the baby yet." A look of realization adorned Jisung's features," So when will you go see the doctor about the baby?" Bri chuckled "I don't know, eventually."

Soon we ordered and our food came, Lydia and Jisung proceeded to ask questions. One of my favorites was "Do you even know how to parent, Bri?" Bri laughed a little too hard at that one and replied with, "No ,that's why I'm asking for your help, stupid!" Jisung and I conversed about what it would be like being a father and how to parent a child. The girls talked about child birth, all the milestones in a child's life, breastfeeding ,and all that jazz.

Kim and Jaemin found out by a small note left on Jaemin's tip. It was a pink sticky note with the words so uh, I'm pregnant
~ Bri the look on Jaemin's face was priceless. The most wide smile I've ever seen on his face was right there big and bright, he looked utterly stupid.  He ran to Kim as we payed and left, Kim RAN outside and hugged Bri, Jaemin followed her and hugged me. All the while Jisung and Lydia where getting blackmail pictures of me and Bri.

Soon we got home and I worked out while Bri did a challenge video in her work setup. Eventually she was done and it was dinner time , we called Jam and Renjun about getting dinner together, they agreed and we went to a simple hole in the wall restaurant, the food was good and it was nearing the end of the dinner and Bri brought up pregnancy, and Jam questioned, "Are you pregnant Bri?"

The night continued on talking about the baby. Eventually Bri and Renjun got tired so we decided to call it a night. Bri kisses my cheek and thanked me for paying for both meals. She is the sweetest girl I have ever met. Once we said our goodbyes and left for home Bri confessed that she didn't know if she was really ready for parenthood." A child is a lot of work and we aren't even married yet!" She exclaimed "I know baby, but we will get the help we need from our friends and everything will be alright."

Reassuring her has always been something I loved, not because I get attention or anything like that, but because I can make my beloved feel better. I think it's time to ask her, to pop the question, to ask her to be this big Tall goofy man's wife. I love her with all my heart, and I will protect her with all my might. Her and our child. I will love that child just as much as I love my Brielle.

"Brielle, you have made me so happy in the 6 years I have dated you. You are the most beautiful and smart and just amazing human I have ever met. So Brielle, will you make a big tall, goofy, stupid man the happiest mad in the stratosphere, and marry me?" I could see tears brim her eyes as she nodded her head, as the diamond ring with a gold band and 12 smaller diamonds surrounding the large gem in the middle, slid on her finger with ease.

I had taken a trip to the jewelry store about a month in advance to the festival, I had taken a ring from Brielle's small jewelry collection, and gotten her ring size. I had a custom ring made for her, I love her so much so every time I see her I love her more and more. Her smile warms my heart and my eyes start to wrinkle as I smile at her. She is absolutely perfect.

We Skyped Livi and she was very happy for us repeating the same questions over and over, Chenle soon joining and asking similar questions. Eventually the night came to a close and we fell asleep in each other's arms.

The next morning we brought all our friends together and as soon as they where all there, Olivia and Chenle on skype, we told them about the engagement. We invited them to our wedding and soon enough the wedding will be held after the baby's birth. I can't wait for my family to be complete. I will love my new family with all my heart.
