Chapter 14

Recap: I ignored it and kept going. "Onward to the land of food. Where I can eat, and not get in trouble. "

We both laughed.

Jeyleanns POV:
We walked into the dining room but abruptly stopped laughing when we noticed another person at the table before us. 

"Colby." I smiled. "It's nice to see you again."

He returned her smile. "It is. Although I wish it was under better circumstances."

I laughed. "Yeah but I can't stay long. Once my gang gets here, I'm leaving."

They both looked sad but I dismissed it. It wasn't my job to protect their feelings.

"Well, before you leave, have some food. I have spaghetti on the stove. Would you like some?" Colby asked. Alex was being surprisingly silent.

"Sure, thank you."

As we waited for the noodles to finish cooking, everyone was sitting in an eerie silence. I broke it by speaking up about the attack.

"Have you guys found anything else about the bombing on your facility?"

The men looked surprised but Alex answered. "Other than the known facts, nothing new."

"Why did you take the Chupacabra Gangs second anyway?" I asked.

"He was snooping around our base. I guess as a spy. We captured him and after they had no response for him, they bombed the facility and took him." Colby replied this time.

"Why do you think he was snooping?" I asked again. My questions were aggravating Alex, that much I could tell but I didn't let that bother me.

He sighed heavily. "I think to gain intell. As of right now we are top gang-"

"Not for long." I interrupted with an evil smirk.

He rolled his eyes but continued. "Being you and the Vipers, the Chupacabra gang is fourth and it has risen in the ranks. They may just be competing for top spot."

I just sighed, while Alex mumbled something. He said it low, as if no one was supposed to hear.

"What the fuck did you say?" I almost screamed. I was fuming.

"W-what?" He stumbled surprised.

"After everything I told you, you go and say something like that? And under your breathe too, as if I can't hear. " I am now standing and pissed off.

"Look Jeyleann, I didn't mean anything by that. It was just a logically explanation. You said yourself after everything you told me, it's just facts." He was now standing as well, trying and failing to calm me down.

Colby stood up. Me and Alex were across from each other, with him at the head of the table, between us. It was obvious he wanted to diffuse the situation as quickly as possible. They both knew what I was capable of.

"What happened? What the hell did you say?" He exclaimed looking at Alex for an explanation. When he saw he wasn't getting on from him, he turned to me.

I could tell my face was stone cold and void of emotion. Glaring at Alex, I answered. "He said the Chupacabra Gang wants me. I told him some things upstairs about my past and my affiliation with the Chupacabras and now he's going to use it against me. "

Colby looked incredulously at Alex. Before he could lecture his son, he spoke.

"That's not what I meant to do. All that I'm saying is that it is a likely and is a plausible explanation for all of this."
