THERE, GATHERED ON the dock was a small group of girls, spearheaded by a counselor with a purple fringed mullet.

"We're challenging you to a canoe race," she shouted out, smiling slyly.

Spencer watched Killian as he leapt from his seat, ignoring the way his canoe jostled from side-to-side. "You always do this, Trick! You know there are four other cabins, right?"

She rolled her eyes and sighed. "Oh, would you lay off the dramatics? Do you accept or not?"

"Uh, what's going on?" Ernest asked, his eyes shifting back and forth behind his lenses.

Flopping back down in his seat, he tore his scowling eyes away from the dock.

"It's this stupid camp tradition. Any group can challenge another. Winners get to assign the losers a punishment. "

"Oh, I love me a little competition," Fisher said excitedly, rubbing his hands together. "We can easily take 'em."

Everyone looked towards the girls who still stood there, their arms crossed and giving defiant stares, waiting for an answer.
