* Val POV *

"Where are you coming from?", Aunt Del asks, scaring me. So much for sneaking back in. I just walked back in from outside, sitting in the car with Aaron and I walk into the house to her waiting up for me. I don't know why, though. She damn sholl ain't my mama. I hope she's not trying to be either. Just because, she lost control of Nesha does not mean she can get second chance on me.

I turn around to face her sitting on the kitchen counter with a pickle in her hand and her faced all scrunched up. She looked fat.

"Breakfast with my boyfriend.", I say casually as I walk around her. I walk to the fridge to get a drink. The heat from outside made me really thirsty.

"Mhmm. Ya momma know?", she asked. Why is she being so nosy? Why is she bothering me, period?

I sigh really loud to let her know she was annoying me.

"She's about to."

"Mhhmm. You wanna tell my about last night? I heard my name had a lil' something to do with it.", she said smacking on her pickle. The fuck? Why is she trying to approach like a teenage girl. This is exactly what I'm talking about.

I roll my eyes as I turn to face her.

"No, not really."

"Really? Nothing? Not even how 'immature' I am..? Or how I put crazy ideas in your mom's head?", She asked finishing up her pickle. I guess some how, she got what happened out of my mom. She can get anything out of my mom because that's her little sister. It irritates me of how much she takes advantage of her.

"Why ask, if you already knew? Just to mess with me, right?". I say not feeling her mood.

"Because I want your side of the story. And an apology." Apology?! Is she fucking serious right now?

"Well, its really none of your business." I say, trying to not let her get to me.

"If it has my name in it and it is discussed in my house, than it better damn well be my business." She said cocking her head to the side. Woah, big balls. Too, bad I have to shut her down real quick.

"My mother and your daughter, Quaneshia, also help pay for this house. So from my understanding, this is just not your house.", I retort back.

"If my name is on the lease, its mine."

"If you say so. I'm going to find my mother so we can finish discussing "our business". I say walking out the kitchen. I was so done with her and that stupid conversation. Who does she think she is?

"Wait!! I'm not-", I hear her bellow after me. I ignore her and head to my mom's room. Once I got there, she was no where to be found. I paced to Nesha's room to ask about the whereabouts of my mom. I came in her room to see her laying on her bed with her work uniform on. She worked at Steakn'Shake. She looked like she was on the phone.

"Nesha! Where my mama?", I ask getting her attention. She took the phone from her ear and mouthed "outside" and went back to her conversation.

I nodded and walked outside to my backyard. I find my mom crouched down by her precious garden. I totally forgot about Aaron destroying it the other night. A meager feeling of guilt settles in the pit of my stomach.

She doesn't notice me standing behind her. I look down at her contemplating on whether I should really go through with this. The reason I'm making this such a big deal is because it kills my pride, a bit. But, it's now or never.

I take a deep breath before I speak.

"Ehh, Mom. Need help?".

"Hmm? Oh yea, baby. Pass me that shovel". She said calmly, without looking up. Huh, guess she did know I was behind her. Surprisingly, she seems to be in a good mood though. I bend down beside her and hand her the shovel.
