The perfect family

That spot sure is something. We've only had two conversations and we already felt close. Not exactly as close as me and Race but close to that.

It was Monday morning so I went and woke everyone up.

"Trucky, Peaches youse with me!" I reminded them

"I thought since it was a bout a goil we wouldn't have ta do dis." Jes sighed

"I'm stickin to me word." I said walking away

"Ready." Peaches said standing next to me

"Haha! I beat you!" Peaches teased

"I'll show you beat." Trucky said chasing after Peaches

Trucky had gotten on top of peaches and was tickling him. The corner was just filled with adorable giggles making everyone just smile. That sound just made life feel that much better.

"Come on Youse two lets get goin." I laughed breaking them up

They followed me. We walked past the two guys that had corner peaches a day ago. Peaches held on to my pants and hide behind me as we walked past. I also pulled Trucky closer not taking my eyes off of them.

We got our papes and sold out quickly.

"I'm done." Peaches said

"Me too." Trucky piped in

"Let's go home." I said grabbing both of their hands

I know their not but they felt like I was der motha. I was fine wit that. Anyways I think I'm a better role model for Peaches than Greg.

"Race ya there?" Trucky asked me

"Sure." I said picking up Peaches

"3...2...1!" Peaches yelled as we took off

"Come on Fox you can dose it!" Peaches cheered

"I'm hurt." Trucky laughed

We were almost there. I slowed down a little so Trucky could win.

Trucky got there and did a little victory dance before he was dragged into an alley way.

"Trucky!" I hollered

"Help!" He Yelped

I looked up to see Spot taking after the alleyway.

"Jes, Greg, peaches!" I yelled as they ran over

"What happened?!" Greg asked

"Just gather the youngins!" I yelled before running off

I chased after Spot. I ran as fast as I could. The person reached a loop in the road that I knew was to a loop. Spot followed the person and I ran to the other option in the loop.

I ran towards the person and knocked them in the head.

"Y/n!" Spot yelled throwing you his cane

You wacked the person until he was on the ground. He had let go of Trucky who had ran towards Spot.

"Don't. Ever. Touch. One. Of. My. Goddamn. Newsies. Eva. Again." You said kicking him with every word

"No get outta here, now!" You yelled as the man took off running

"Youse okay." I asked Trucky who was clinging on to Spot as if his life depended on it

"I...I...yeah." He said still shocked at what had happened

Spot picked up Trucky and we began to walk back. I hadn't noticed but at some point Spot with his free hand intertwined his with your hand. Trucky
leaned his head on Spots shoulder.

It was like we were the parents you saw out on a stroll on a Saturday afternoon.

"Everyone here?" I asked walking away from Spot and Trucky who was still scared out of his life

"Yeah all sixteen youngins not including Trucky." Jes said

"Why is he here?" Rat asked

"That's a good question." I said turning to Spot

"Came ta talk business." He sighed

"Anyone have any trouble today." I asked

"No." They all replied

"You're free ta go." I said turning back to Spot

Peaches ran over to me and hugged me.

"Youse alright." I asked remembering I had just left him

"Yeah." He said as I picked him up

"Let's walk." Spot said

We walked still holding Peaches and Trucky who were both mentally scared from today's events.

"So why was Youse really here?" I asked

"Ise wanted to talk." He said

"Alright." I said

We walked in silence holding each others hands and the smaller newsies.

"Suns setting we should get goin." I said seeing as the two had fallin asleep

"I don't want to wake 'im up. And were almost ta Brooklyn. Do you wants ta bring 'em there?" Spot asked

"Sure. Hold on." I said putting Peaches in a crate and climbing up a building

"Tell Jes he's in charge and the three of us is in Brooklyn." I told Chance

I climbed back down and picked Peaches back up.

"Let's go." I said taking Spots hand again

We walked in silence across the bridge. We got across the bridge and were met by two of his newsies. They quietly moved out of the way as we walked past.

Spot lead me up to his room some of his newsies just staring in confusion. We walked into his room and laid the two newsies down in the middle of his bed.

"Unwrap it. I saw you wincing on the way here." Spot said

"Okay." I sighed as we both turned around

I quickly took off my suspenders and unbuttoned my shirt. I unwrapped my chest even faster sighing in relief. I quickly put my shirt back on and put my suspenders and the wrap next to the bed.

"You can turn around." I said seeing that Spot had taken off his cap and suspenders

I quickly took off my cap realizing I hadn't done that yet.

I went and laid next to Peaches near the wall. It was almost as if he just knew I was there because he snuggled into me. I smiled down at him as Spot went out of the room. I assume too tell his Newsies to go too bed. I shortly fell asleep.

Spot's POV

"Go ta bed!" I demanded

"Who's the Newsie?" Butch asked

"None ya business now get ta bed." I demanded before turning around to go back up the stairs.

When I walked into the room I just smiled. I saw peaches snuggled into y/n and Trucky was kicking the air and grunting before calming down and rolling over to were he was now facing my direction. I silently laughed and laid down next to him.

Before I could close my eyes Trucky was clinging on to me like he was earlier. I wish this was forever. I knew none of them were mine but it felt like we were the perfect family. I closed my eyes and fell asleep scooping Trucky up.
