Defrag entered the secret factory again and approached Al and Victor.
"How is the progress?"
Victor nodded, "It's done, just needs to be installed."
Al nodded as well, "Yep, which I'm going to get on, as well as get rid of that pesky police drone they keep sending."
"Thank you both. You have done great work for me as well as the Brighten family."
Victor shrugged, "Eh, you paid us a bunch and we like building weird stuff. Nothing personal."
Al offered a hand, "It's been an honor to work with you, Mr. Defrag."
Defrag took the hand, "Just Defrag is preferred," They paused for a second, "I've transferred the rest of the payment to your accounts."Victor jumped up, shouting about being a billionaire. Al walked away and got into a large ship and started to load the massive project into it. Defrag, having other things to attend to, left and prepared for the flight back to Mars, specify one of Warmage's main office buildings.
"So little time left, yet so much left to do. I suppose this is what is considered 'stress'."
Defrag clambered onto the ATV and 2 hours later climbed to another rental car.
The car's AI spoke, "Where would you like to go?"
"Mars, Biodome G25. Take gates, I'll pay double for a trip less than 20 hours."
"Enroute."Defrag powered down the body and returned to just being an AI Core. They called Cypher.
"Cypher, have you verified everything that I sent you? As well as looked into the information that the Huntsmen dug up?"
"Yes, I have. All of it seems to line up. There are far too many coincidences as well as flat facts for it to be reasonable to say its not 100% certain."
"Good, I'm forwarding the last of the Hydra database to you. I'll send you some more things I'd like you to look into."
"Jeez, you're working me like a dog."
"I am also paying you enough money to buy an 8th of a moon every day. Do not complain, get it done."
"I will. Send me the data."
...
Defrag stepped out of the car, standing at the edge of the massive city. Mar's Biodome G25 was a massive Corpo center and held some of the largest offices for the biggest companies, it also boasted some of the highest population per square mile of anywhere in the galaxy. Defrag walked into the city, they had a few things the fact check that couldn't be done virtually and required a physical presence. Defrag pulled out the hyperrealistic face mask and edited his voice to be that of a man in his 40's.
Defrag stood before the office's barracks/residents hall, they looked down at the decal blocked by the sleeve and the gloves they wore.
"Have we gone too far? Maybe. But it doesn't matter now. We've reached the crescendo so to speak and we can't give up now.
Defrag walked into the reception area and approached an off, duty employee.
Defrag spoke, "Hi, I'm Danial Frak, I'm looking for Mr. Brandi. Do you know if he is around?"
The employee seemed perplexed, "He's a higherup he doesn't stay here, they get the better rooms in the other building."
"Oh, my bad. Can you point me over there? I'm an old friend and I wanted to drop by and surprise him."
The employee pointed, "Just go out the door and make 2 rights and walk to the building labeled 'Upper Hall'."
"Thank you so much."
