My head ached like something I had never felt before. Like rocks had replaced my brain and someone shook me around. My eyes remain closed as I tried to dull the pain inside my head soon after I realized it wasn't going to I open them only to find myself surrounded in darkness again. The smell around me was damp. Like there was water dripping and mildew was growing the air was cold I smelled wet stone I assumed at that point I was in a dungeon probably under the mountain because the last thing I remember was turning upside down after seeing Bellamy laying on the floor unconscious. Standing up I felt around in the dark called rock met my hands and eventually I found bars once there I heard voices speaking in another language it was Trigrdasleng. The bars felt rough they were probably rusted from years of use the voice is louder and a light approached me and my cell. To mount weather guard's approach to me fully dressed in studded leather with covers over their eyes to protect themselves from my Stone gaze.
"Wanheda, com op." They demanded. I obeyed their command and headed over to the bars, my snakes hissing loudly as the unwelcome intruders banged their hands on my cell. I was clearly in deep trouble. Something that Bellamy no doubt would have helped me get out of but...he was gone now too. There was a creaking feeling in my chest, like something was breaking on the inside. The two guards grabbed my arms and twisted me around, the only reason I didn't even try to fight is because there was nothing left to fight for. My life was over the day I was cursed. Maybe even before that. I bowed my head and felt my eyes burn with angry tears, threatening to spill over as they welled. I bit back on my jaw and swallowed hard as they shackled and blindfolded me and began to drag me up winding stairs into a lit up hallway that smelled of beautifully polished wood and freshly carved stone. The light from the sun danced around on the back of the blindfold in reds as they dragged me along to wherever it was they were taking me. To their king no doubt.
"Hod op." One said, the other tightened his grip on me. I stayed silent through it all, I've waited this long to be freed from this curse. What's a little bit longer? They'd kill me and use what was left to take over the country. Nothing I could do could stop them. The sound of a large door opening reverberated throughout the hall we were in. An overwhelming sense of dread suddenly dropped into my stomach as I was pushed into the room.
"Hai Hefa." The men said.
"Sen klir Wanheda." A menacing voice demanded. I was grabbed by my upper arm and forced up a small set of stairs and forced onto my knees. As I was shoved I felt my left leg cramp tightly, my right knee crunched. I kept my head down still, not wanting to face my executioner.
"Oh Wanheda. Such a pleasure to meet you finally." A man said, clasping my shoulder. I shuddered at the feeling.
"You're going to regret this." I mumbled...not even believing myself.
"So long as you're here, you belong to us. You will fight only for us and you will exist only to serve your King." The man snapped. I shook my head refusing to believe the words coming out of his mouth. Serving the Mountain would be a fate worse than death.
"Why would I serve you? What if I choose not to?" I whispered. The man leaned in so close the smell of sour wine on his breath stung my nostrils.
"You won't die if that's your concern. But by the time my men are through with you...you'll wish for it's embrace." And with that the false King slapped me clean across my face.
"I already do. There's nothing you can do to break me further." I spat out. I finally lifted my head, even blindfolded I could hear people shuffling backwards, afraid of what I would do next.
"The man we charged with delivering you failed us in more ways than one and he will be dealt with to the fullest extent of our power."
"What man?"
"A Bellamy Blake? He was tasked with delivering you here or cutting that lovely head off of your shoulders." The King said. His hand caressed my chin and tilted my head up more. Tears filled my eyes once more, realizing that Bellamy...Bellamy was going to send me here. To be theirs instead of my own. He was only trying to trick me in order to get whatever he wanted.
"Our sweet Maya was an unfortunate loss but one that we won't dwell on. Her position has been filled already. And now, Wanheda. You will do as I say."
Fear gripped me on all sides.
