"party at my place Saturday!" Callie squeaked bouncing up to me, tossing a crumpled peice of notebook paper in my purse.
"daddy gone again?" I asked
"yup!" she grinned. "and he even got a keg this time! Can u believe it? The man is a saint"
"a saint would stay with his daughter. Not go to France again and get a keg, Cal." I informed her
"whatever. Live a little Sam."
"I've been to three parties this year already. And it's only the second week of school. Cal you need a different life"
"Shaddup you're jealous."
"oh defs" I rolled my eyes at her cockiness.
"so you're coming right?"
"I guess so" I mumbled.
"okay guys shut your faces I got news" our home room teacher Ms. Crost announced in her deepest voice. She grinned when we all stopped talking.
"I kinda hope that Zack sings tonight. He is soooo- shit- sorry!" Callie hid her head in her arms when everyone stared at her
"Cal, please try to stay with the class" Ms. Crost laughed. "so back to what I was saying. Is it okay if I continue?"
"yes ma'am" Callie bit her lip.
"good" she took out a price of paper "I got an email last night from Mrs Harper saying there was an opportunity to go spend six months on a sea school. The people who are chosen will travel around the continents while learning about their culture and of course regular school stuff. It's just a chance to get away from me and learn about stuff a cool way. Anyone want to sign up?"
A bunch of people raised their hands. "okay. Here's how it works. Everyone who signs up will have their names put in a giant box. Mrs Harper will pick out 5 names out of the 3 grades and they will get to go around the world! Okay. Now I need the first row to get up and sign up. Only sign up if you really want to!" she emphasized. "Ooh I forgot! Your parents will need to agree and come to a conference. The meeting will be Thursday and whoever is there will be put in the box. Of there's less than 5 people they will all be able to go! Okay now go sign up!"
Callie turned around in her seat to talk to me "are you gonna sign up? I'm not It sounds boring. Why go o a boring boat with 5 other people who you will kill in those 6 months. So why not just stay here with everything else just staying the same. It'll be boring as hell!"
"I dunno. It sounds kinda fun. I'm gonna sign up to go to the meeting at least." I shrugged
"Sammy are you signing up?" my other best friend Jeremy asked.
"I'm planning on it. Sounds like fun. Meeting fun people, learning about cultures, a boat? Bring it on!"
"sweet. So I'll see you at the meeting tomorrow then right? Momma misses you" he blushed
"Jer! Miss her too but I used to come over every day. She must of been so annoyed about me"
"no she still loves you"
"aww she is so sweet. I'll get to see her tomorrow!" I grinned nudging his shoulder.
"stop" he whined when he almost fell out of his desk.
"you're such a baby!" I giggled. I stopped when I caught my crush smiling over at us. "hi" i brushed my hair behind my ear, flirting.
"you signing up, Monroe?" he asked.
"yep." i smiled back
"good" he smirked his usual cockeyed grin and turned away. Right to his girlfriend. "hey babes. Sup?"
"don't you 'sup' me" she hissed through her red lips "I can see right trough your facade."
"what do you mean?"
"I mean we are over!" she slapped him across the cheek
"bitch" I mumbled under my breath.
"Excuse me?"
"you heard me" she repeated "over"
"fine by me" he shrugged
"what?"
"I've been waiting forever to say that but I didn't want to seem like a douche. So thanks for the freedom babe" he looked over at me again and rolled his eyes.
"I think someone has a crush" Callie sung in my ear. She was always a loud whisperer so Jeremy looked over and have a look to Callie.
"what?" I asked him.
"do you like him?" he asked cautiously.
"of course she does! He's hot" Callie replied for me.
"I've never really talked to him before but he is kinda hot. I think if I got to know him better then I would like him more."
"oh" he nodded slowly "oh"
"yep. I really hope I get to go on the boat!" I sighed
"me too"
"do you want me to sign you in?" Chris asked, leaning his elbow on my desk
"s-sure" I grinned
"cool" he walked away.
