"so, there are alot f you here today. again im sorry about the whole short notice thing, but we only learned about it ourselves a few days ago. the boat had five slots left and we got dibs on them! so, all of you have shown a keep interest about goin to the sea school. i told your homeroom teachers to inform you how we would be choosing who would go on the boat, but just incase they didnt tell you, i will. all of your names will go in a basket and i will pick out five names and then you all will be sent to the ship for six months!"
jeremy elbowed me in the ribcage "ouch!" i moaned, doubling over, trying not to cause too much commotion. "what?" i hissed
"sorry?" he had a glazed over look in his eyes, telling me that he didnt know what was happing.
"you elbowed me"
"i did?"
"mmhm"
"sorry. i didnt mean to"
"it's okay. its crowded in here."
"shh!" the girl sitting next to me hissed. she was one of the girls more popular than me, but that was only because she was friends with Alexus who was dating Chris who, hello, is hot and the star quarterback of the team. the other reason is because she is a senior.
Chris, who was sitting next to Whitney for some reason, leaned forward to see what she was getting pissy about. "hey Monroe" he smiled when he spotted me and proceeded to crawl over his ex-girlfriend. he plopped down beside me, sending Whitney to fall onto her best friend
"get off of me you fat lard!" she squealed, shoving her off.
"ladies!" mrs. Harper voice boomed. "out now. since you have shown disrespect to me, i can only assume the kind of trouble you will get into on the sea school. im not willing to have the chance of you going out there and us having to pay for you to come back too."
"but she attacked me!" Alexus screamed
"go," she pointed to the door "im sorry, but you need to learn to be more respectful"
"whatever" the girls said simitaniously sending me glares.
"that gives us more of a chance to go to the sea school now" Chris whispered, sending shivers to run down my spine.
i just nodded, not being able to speak, due to the shakiness my voice probably had. still, he didnt move over, even if there was a giant gap between him and the next person over. part of me was grateful, but the other part wanted him to move a bit so i could breath normally again. he reached up and fluffed his hair a bit, flexing his biceps as he did so. he did a fake yawn and put his arm over me. boy did this guy have some balls! beside me, jeremy shifted uncomfortably as Chris played with the ends of my hair with his fingers that were dangling over my other shoulder. i kicked my leg, trying to make it look like i was getting comfortable, but really i was trying to get jeremy to stop being so weird. he looked at me weird, but i just made my eyes really big in a way to tell him so stop and he moved away a few inches. not exactly what i meant....
"so now that we have told you all what is expected of you and what will be happening, i need all of the students still intersted to come up take a piece of paper, put your name on it and put it in the basket. parents, you guys can go outside and wait for your child now if you would like."
jeremy got up first, not bothering to wait for his best friend to go up to sign the slip of paper. Chris,m surprisingly, seemed to notice that too. "whats his problem?" he asked as he held a hand down to help me up
"honestly? im not even sure myself" apparently jer heard me, because he shot me an evil glare that seemed to be copied right of the face of Whitney.
"right, i'm sure this has nothing to do with the fact that he likes you?"
"wait, what?"
"Jeremy likes you. its hard to not see that"
"really?" i breathed. "ugh and now hes gonna get all pissy at me because he likes me and i like you and-"
"you like me?"
"it's hard not to when you're so hot"
"oh," he seemed to be defeated
"whats your deal now?" i snapped at him, oblivious to the looks i was getting from other people in the room
"i thought you would like me for something other than my looks. it's all anyone cares about anymore and its getting on my nerves now. i want someone to really like me for who i am and not what i look like. is that too much to ask for?"
"a little deep dont you thinkg, Chris?" i asked, bewildered
"no i was just kidding actuially, i adore all of the attention because im hot. its really fun!"
"your so weird. c'mon lets sign up" i said, pulling my hand away from his.
it didnt exactly work, because as soon as i let go, he reached back over and tangled our fingers together with a grin on his face "your not slipping away from me again"
"again" i asked bewilered
"hah, yeah, dont you remember freshman year when you got all of those anymous letters in your locker?"
"yeah, brian gave me those?"
"have you ever seen his handwriting?"
"no..." i suddenly stopped. "wait, you gave me all of those letters then just watched as i thought it was the work of another guy?!"
"yeah, that would of been freshman year for me"
"im so sorry!" i bent over a slip of paper, writing my name with the pink pen i brought with me
Samantha Monroe
"you didnt know any better" he offered
"yeah, but you could of told me it was you! it would have been better if it was you instead of him! seriously, he went around" i looked up at mrs. Harper looking at me strangly "every night with a different girl and i didnt even kinow it!"
"im sorry it's not like i could just go up to you and be like 'your dating the wrong guy' because then i would lose my best friend."
"and that's how i feel about jer"
"maybe it's best if only one of us go to the sea school"
where the hell did this sensitive Chris come from "chris, we dont even know who their gonna choose. it might be neither of us, what would happen then?"
"then i guess id have to get over you!"
"hey now, i never said that i wouldnt go out with you"
"you will!" his eyes brightened
"nope" i stuck my tongue out at him "thats what you get for making me date Brian"
"not fair!" he called as i sprinted down the halls to get away from him "sam! get back here!"
"never!!" i howled as i burst out the front doors.
