"mommy?" I asked giving her a small hug
"what do you want Samantha? I need to get back to work. Can you make sure you lock the door when jasper gets home?"
"mom! Seriously listen to me!"
"ok" she slid into a seat, making sure not to wrinkle her pants suit "what's up?"
"ca I go on a sea school?"
"what!?" she gaped "absolutely not!"
"why not?"
"because I need someone to look after Jasper"
"mom! He's eighteen! He's old enough to take care of himself!"
"well obviously he's not mature enough to do it himself so I need someone to do it for him"
"mom give it a rest! Either you come to the meeting or I'm calling dad. Either way I will go on that boat."
"call your father you are grounded for a month"
"mom! That means you have to come to the meeting then"
"fine. Leave me alone now I have to work"
"you better come to the meeting Thursday or I will ask daddy if I can live with him"
"whatever. I need to get back to work so you need to keep it down."
I ran to my room and picked up my phone from my dresser, dialing my most recent contact
"hey what's up?" I took a deep breath "what's wrong Sammy?"
"Jer," I sighed "moms being an ass and didn't want to agree. She said she needs me here to take care of Jake"
"oh I'm sorry."
"yeah I told her that either she go to the meeting or I'm moving back in with daddy"
"to New York?"
"yeah. I know it's pretty far away but-"
"Sammy, he lives over 500 miles from here"
"I know, but I don't know how much of this I can handle. I mean that's kinda why I want to go on the boat. New people. No one I have to take care of. I just want another chance to start. Maybe moving to daddy's would be best"
"but what about your friends? What about me and Callie?"
"I don't even know if I'm going or not. Jer I'm probably not, I'm not counting on it. It's senior year I'm going to college soon. Anyways I don't want to go to another school where they've known each other for 12 years. And I wont have any friends."
"Sammy. You're an amazing person. You could be friends with anyone!"
"Jeremy you have no idea how hard it is for me to talk to people. We've been best friends for like 15 years. I tell you everything and I don't know what I'll do in college without you."
"well go to the same one Sammy"
"I need to learn how to do things for myself. Eventually we're gonna have to do things separately Jeremy. It's not like were going to do the same things forever. As much as I really love you we can't always do things together"
"aww that's true, I guess. Do you think she'll actually come to the meeting though?"
"who knows. I'm still calling daddy. He'll make sure that she goes"
"i hope so"
"me too, Me too."
"wouldn't the boat thing be so much fun! I really hope I get chosen!" I squealed
