Juliette felt her heart begin to beat faster and stronger every step she took walking towards the emergency room. She felt that once she sees Dr. Hunt she was going to pass out, or worse throw up. She reached the emergency room. It smelled of blood and all you could hear were screams. Just what Juliette needed to keep her mind occupied from having to be in the same room as Dr. Hunt. A nurse flagged Juliette down towards a young girl. As young as 7 in one of the beds. She was as pale as a ghost and showing no emotion just tears in her eyes. No pain. No worry. No fear. Was this little girl in shock or was she just not in any pain.

"Hi there sweetie, my name is Juliette. What's yours?" Juliette said to the little girl walking up to her bedside. The little slowly turned her head to Juliette and in the faintest voice she responded.

"My name is Mia." After Mia responded she turned her head away.

"Hi Mia, so what brings you here? And where are your parents?" Juliette asked. Juliette didn't want to touch the little girl until she knew the little girl would feel safe.

"My tummy hurts." Mia answered. Mia was holding her stomach and her knees were bent up towards her chest.

"Alright Mia. Can I help figure out why your tummy hurts?" Juliette asked removing her stethoscope. Mia nodded her head slowly and gently like she was in slow motion. "See these," Juliette said holding up her stethoscope into Mia's view. "I call these my magical ears. They help me listen to your heart beat and your lungs when you breathe." Mia showed a small smile. Juliette took stethoscope and put the ear pieces in her ears and took the diaphragm (metal end of the stethoscope) and placed it on Mia's chest. Listening intently Juliette couldn't find anything concerning with Mia's breathing nor her heart. "Well good news Mia. Your heart and lungs sound perfect. I give them an A+." Juliette tried to palpate the girls abdomen but to even put the slightest of pressure on it made her cry out as well Mia refused an ultrasound due to the pain. Juliette turned to the nurse and asked where the parents were.

"I don't know Dr. She just walked in here on her own." The nurse responded.

"OK, well page Arizona Robins for me please." Juliette instructed the nurse. The nurse then walked off towards the nurses station and paged Dr. Robins. Juliette turned to Mia. "Alight sweetie. I called one of my friends to come and help me with making you feel better OK. If you anything, anything at all you let me know and especially if your tummy or anything else starts to hurt." Juliette walked over to the nurses station while another nurse watched over the girl. Juliette picked up a tablet and began to create a chart for Mia.

"When did you get back?" Juliette's stomach churned in her abdomen. She would know that voice anywhere.

"Hello Dr. Hunt. I just started back today. I am on your service for the week." Juliette said trying her absolute hardest to keep a straight and steady face. It even seemed like Owen was beginning to turn slightly red in the face trying to figure out what to say.

"So, what you got?" Owen asked desperately trying to avoid any kind of awkwardness.

"7 year old girl with severe abdominal pain. Can't even touch it to get a feel nor even get an ultrasound of her abdomen. I'm kind of at a loss here. I've paged Robins from peds." Juliette responded.

"Alright, well let me know how it goes." Owen responded and walked off. Just in time too because Arizona just walked into the Emergency room followed by Alex Karev who must have been on Arizonas services.

Juliette walked over to Arizona. "Dr. Robins." She greeted.

"Hello Dr. Knight. Can you show me our patient?" She asked. You could tell that she was in her cheerful happy self. Juliette didn't get anything from Karev as you would expect him to do. Just a simple head nod and stare. The three of them walked over to Mia where she was still laying on the bed holding her abdomen. "Dr. Knight what do we have?"

"Mia. Seven years old. Walked into the Emergency Room alone with severe abdomen pain." Juliette responded. It'll be OK. Juliette mouthed to Mia giving her reassurance.

"Hi Mia, I'm Dr. Robins." She said walking up to the little girl with her usual smile for the kids. "Can I look at your stomach please?" Mia moved her arms hesitantly. Dr. Robins moved to feel Mia's abdomen but like with Juliette even touching it she's in pain. Kerev slowly moved towards Mia.

"No! No! No touch!" Mia said as Kerev reached the side of the bed.

Suddenly something clicked in Juliettes head. A flash of her past came up. A memory of horror and fear and what you would call the most dehumanizing feeling a person could feel. This little girl has no parent around. She has fear and trauma painted all over her face as son as Kerev walked up. She doesn't seem to trust men. And the most telling of all her abdomen is throbbing with pain. Juliette turns to Dr. Robins and whispers to her.

"Dr. Robins, I feel we need to immediately move Mia to a personal room and only allow female's." Dr. Robins didn't question this statement made by Juliette. She was thinking the same thing. A horrible thing to even think.

...

Mia had been moved to a private room on the peds floor with Female Staff Only  written on a piece of paper and taped to the door. Juliette and Dr. Robins were in the room with Mia when a nurse came in with a gown for Mia to put on. Mia looked at the nurse and shook her head clearly showing that she didn't want to change into it.

"Maybe I can help you?" Juliette said to Mia taking the gown from the nurse in her hands. Mia looked up at Juliette and nodded her head. Before Juliette began to help Mia, Mia took her little finger and rolled it gesturing to come closer. Juliette bent down and put her ear next to Mia.

"In the bathroom." Was all she said. Juliette nodded and slowly helped Mia from the bed and into the bathroom. Every little shuffle Mia took looked agonizing for her to take. They reached the bathroom but they didn't close the door because Dr. Robins was hoping that maybe she could spot something as Mia changed into the gown. It made them sick what they saw it. The bruises from her chest to her legs, some purple and some green, some as old as weeks and some as new as days. Somebody was really careful on where they left them. Then, there it was. Plain and simple right in front of their eyes when Mia slowly removed her pants. Blood, deep and bright red staining her pink and purple butterfly panties. Once Juliette had gotten Mia into the gown she walked her slowly back to the bed and watched over her till she was asleep.

"Who would do such a thing" Dr. Robins said as they walked out of Mia's room closing the door behind them. Juliette responded with just two words.

"A monster."
