Chapter Eight

Scarlet: So what have you been up to today?

Noah: Whenever we get new members in the Mafia they have to swear in and stuff, and since I'm the leader I have to be there for their swear in.

Scarlet: Oh.

Noah: (hits the balls and he gets a few in the pockets) Yeah.

Scarlet: (hits a ball in her pocket) When can I join?

Noah: (she hits another one but it misses) Well, once you're in the gang, you're in it for life. Are you ready for that kind of commitment? (he hits another in the pocket)

Scarlet: Well, I don't plan on leaving you for a long time. And I need a place to belong, you know?

Noah: Yeah, I do. (hits one but it misses by an inch) (pauses) It's just, I still see you as my baby sister.

Scarlet: (there's silence) You know I don't blame you for leaving me with him.

Noah: (puts down the stick) But I left you Scar. I can never forgive myself for leaving you alone with him. (starts to get tears in his eyes) I hate myself for what he did to you. I hate my existence (sobs)

Scarlet: (puts down the stick and hugs him tightly) I forgive you. (crying) It is not your fault Noah. It is not your fault.

Noah: (looks at her) I'm so sorry.

Scarlet: What he did to me was neither one of our faults. He is a cold person that abuses others, and he's going to have to spend the rest of his life and forever more paying for his actions. It is not your fault.

Noah: (wipes his tears) I'm so sorry.

Scarlet: (holding his shoulders) Listen, All I care about is what we have right now, what happened in the past is over and done with.

Noah: (nods his head)

Scarlet: I love you so much.

Noah: I love you too. (kisses her on the forehead)

Scarlet: Now let me kick your ass in pool. (she grabs her stick and hits a ball into the pocket.)

(the scene shifts to the game ending)

(Luke is sitting back and watching them play)

Luke: I cannot believe you lost to her.

Noah: Maybe I let her win?

Scarlet: No way, in your dreams. (they put up the balls and sticks)

Noah: So, Scarlet. Are you coming to watch me tonight?

Scarlet: Of course, I can't not watch you kick ass.

Noah: Well, get ready. We leave in 20.

Scarlet: (freaking out) What!? 20 minutes to get ready!!? (runs out of the room)

Luke: You think she's going to adjust well?

Noah: I have no clue. But I know that you'll be around for guidance.

Luke: Yeah. (pauses and gulps knowing that he's betraying Noah, his best friend.) You have to get ready too. The show can't go on without you.

Noah: (laughs lightly) You're right. (walks out to get ready for his fight)

Luke: (gets ready himself. He puts on black ripped jeans, a white muscle shirt and a leather jacket. He feels uncertain for what the night will bring and decides in a last minute decision to take out a book from his shelf. He plops on the couch and kicks his feet up so he can read)
