Anurag parked his car in the garage of his mansion and took a deep breath. He was tired, his entire body physically aching, to top the mental exhaustion he battled every day. He was about to move out of the car when he noticed Mr. Bajaj moving out of his car, and walking inside. Anurag let out a frustrated groan. Of anything he didn't want to face the reason behind his tears right now. Irritated, he took slower steps to the house, but the gate was already open. He saw Bajaj sitting on the sofa, and before Anurag could walk in, he saw Prerna rushing downstairs.

"Where were you? I have been calling you for an hour now. Have you seen the time? It's past 12", Prerna's questions fired at Bajaj broke whatever was left of his heart. The entire scene looked so domestic to him, she didn't look like someone forced to be a wife. She seemed genuinely concerned, and irritated at her husband.

Her husband.

The thought hurt Anurag more. It was supposed to be him, not Bajaj. She was supposed to care for him, fret over him, and scold him. Not that Bajaj. Anurag bit back his lip to not let his tears flow. Prerna was still talking to her husband, oblivious that he was as late as Bajaj and was standing by the door.

"Kuki was so upset she could not play with you. You should have a sense of timing na Mr. Bajaj. Now go freshen up, I will heat the food", Prerna's words were surprising even for Rishabh. He was not used to someone caring for him, and most of all, he hadn't expected Prerna to do that.

Prerna turned towards the kitchen and once she wasn't in sight anymore, Anurag walked in, his steps fast, ignored Bajaj and moved straight up the stairs towards his room

Prerna turned towards the kitchen and once she wasn't in sight anymore, Anurag walked in, his steps fast, ignored Bajaj and moved straight up the stairs towards his room.

Bajaj saw him, and all the warmth he had been feeling inside at Prerna's care vanished. It had been a ploy again, he shook his head, to deceive Anurag, and he like a idiot thought someone would care for him. She had done the same thing in Jail, to put up a show for Anurag and she was doing it again. But it hurt him far more today than that day, and he could not place why.

Who was he kidding? He chided himself. He was a devil, and devil's aren't cared for.

Prerna returned oblivious of what had happened with a glass of water. Bajaj looked at her, his eyes cold and then took the glass from her.

"He is gone now, you don't need to pretend anymore. You should not be awake this late anyway, so please go sleep", Bajaj's words confused Prerna but when she Anurag's figure upstairs, rushing for his room, she understood what Mr. Bajaj had meant.

But Mr. Bajaj didn't wait for her clarification. By the time she reached their bedroom, he had already taken his night wear and dashed inside the washroom. Prerna could not help but feel guilty. She deduced that his misinterpretation had hurt him, she could see it in the crack or his armour he had let slip for a second.

When Bajaj came out, his face was back to the stoic, expression less one.

"Mr. Bajaj, I-", Prerna attempted to clarify, but he shook his head.
