Blake started off as my favorite character but ever since volume 6 she's become one of the worst characters. To me that's sad because she started off with so much potential but when the menagerie arc ended Blake's entire character and personality was flushed down the toilet for the sake of that garbage ship that shall not be named.
Now ever since volume 6 Blake has been reduced to a side character who's only allowed to interact with Y*ng for the majority of her screen time. Blake should still be relevant in volume 7 because Atlas is the most discriminatory faunus kingdom but she wasn't used properly at all. Now her only purpose is to be Y*ng's girlfriend and to further elevate Weiss anytime that something to do with faunus comes up.
When Cordovin referred to Blake as a "friend of questionable behavior" Blake cowers and Weiss ultimately takes the spotlight when she fires back at Cordovin by asking her "What's that supposed to mean?"
In volume 7 when the team arrives to Mantle and the drunk guy goes off in a rant about the faunus Blake again cowers in the name of "not causing a scene" but then Weiss uses her glyphs to send the man flying into the garbage with a smirk while she says that "It was worth it"
Then again in volume 7 when they were in the mines that were known to serve as places of unfair labor for faunus Blake doesn't really say much. All she does is recognize the place and Weiss again takes over by saying that "I wish I could take back the years of pain my family has caused the faunus and all of my complacency in it."
Everytime an issue with the faunus in Atlas has come up Weiss is always the one to speak up when it should be Blake. Before the Atlas arc, Blake was all about speaking about their cause and anytime in between volumes 1-5 that someone spoke bad about the faunus Blake would always call them out and she wasn't afraid to do so. That was something that I wanted to see in the Atlas arc because it's the kingdom that treats faunus the worst.
Instead all we got was Blake being reduced to the "useless lesbian" and Weiss' character being elevated even more when her character development is already leagues past the development of everyone else on team rwby combined.
Blake just sucks now and I don't blame anyone who hates her.
